My giffgaff micro-SIM was a genuine one rather than one that was cut down.

It might have been, but if you order a micro SIM now then you will get one that has been cut down.

That was me fantasizing

Currently tied into a contract with orange until feb 2013. I do have a Desire HD which by selling I imagine I can get £100-150. But that still means the phone would be £330 upfront, which I cannot do

Been offered 24 month contract renewal @ £15.88 (300 mins, 300 texts, 500MB internet, unlimited landline) plus £129 for handset & £4 delivery. Sadly £30 more for handset than quoted on Tuesday. Have gone ahead anyway as still a decent deal. Overall total £515 = £21.50 a month. Three have this on PAYG for £449.

How much is it monthly? Sell the Desire HD, keep the money for paying off the old contract.

Take out the T-Mobile one for £26 I linked earlier and worry about the Orange one when you run out of money from the Desire HD

Ouch. You have tempted me. Don't want to have to change my number though, and don't really have the cash to just pay off my entire contract in one go (which is what I'd have to do by requesting a PAC code)

Is there anyway to get your PAC number without ending your contract? So you get a new number on your current contract.

I doubt. Asking for a PAC code means that you officially terminate your contract.

You can get around £115 from the phone recycling places, a little under what you get from EBay, but with less hassle and chance of being scammed
