*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Got tired of waiting for T-Mobile so contacted Chitter Chatter yesterday. Really helpful service, phone in stock so ordered and told should get it on Saturday by special delivery and free bluetooth headset as well.

Thing is, T-Mobile upgraded me through ChitterChatter. My contract is with
T-Mobie, not a third party yet they went via ChitterChatter to get me the phone

Went to the o2 store this moring to see if they had any in stock and was told "Not sure when it will arrive as it's a new phone". Well since it's new would it not be a good idea to get some STOCK!

No wonder people order online.

Are you allowed to drop the data within x months of your contract?

You can drop the data at any time, even right away. The option is not available online via the o2 website, you need to actually speak to an o2 adviser (via live webchat or you can ring them) but they can definitely remove it for you bringing the monthly cost down to £10.50.

Just to be clear, you have to pay for data for the first month. I ordered a similar package for the Xperia S. I phoned O2 as soon as I had received my handset and cancelled the data bolt-on. You are charged for the first month and then it is removed after that.

I was able to cancel on the day I ordered, so I paid 8p for the joys of data for that day, now £10.50 per month (ended up with a £10.93 bill for the first month)

o2 online chat say they only have black in stock and that black is the only colour being made right now lol ....... Yet I was playing with a white unit yesterday..

Might pop instore and see if they have white in stock later today..

Rang t-mobile yesterday, said they don't have any in stock and will ring me back when they with a deal for upgrade. :(

What the heck is chitterchatter?

Chitter Chatter is a company where you can get an upgrade with T-Mobile by going through them and they have One X in stock. I assume they make their money from the amount of the monthly bill that pays for the phone.

My One X is on its way - this lunchtime delivery! Wooooh!!!

I know its a cashback deal - and if it pays out together with Quidco, it works out £26pm on a 24month contract with O2 on their unlimited On & On tariff!

I bought it through Affordable Mobiles - does anyone know if it is an unlocked unbranded version? Is there any way of checking if its network locked without trying another SIM in it?

Looked at the One S had my heart set on this - yes great looking phone and a great form factor, but the One X has an unbelievably good screen which immediately made me say 'I want one!'. I just need to get new clothes with bigger pockets to accomodate the One X

Same here, it depends on who you speak too. The person I spoke to cancelled the bolt-on straight away but not only that, he credited £3 to my account just in case I am charged for the first month. It turned out I wasn't, so with the credit my first months bill was around £7.50 :)

I had a play around with a live handset at the T-Mobile shop on Fleet Street but I wasn't convinced in the end. The screen is very nice but I didn't find the device as slick as I hoped.

I'm holding out for the SIII now.

Looking at the design and specs of this thing I'm forced to chuckle a bit.

I've lost count of how many times I've seen people criticise the iPhone for its non-removable battery, lack of Micro-SD slot and lack of Flash support.

Now, look what we have here, the future of Android handsets. Non-removable battery, no external storage and Flash will soon be gone too.

Basically, if you want a well-designed, good-looking and "solid" phone, then you need to do away with large removable covers exposing large battery trays and SD-card slots and so forth and go towards a unibody design like this. Apple always understood that and it seems like the other manufacturers are finally starting to realise it too.

Everyone seems to think that lighter is better when it comes to phones but frankly a lot of the Android handsets, such as the revered GS2 (which my gf has) feel like cheap plastic toys in the hand.

Oh, and I also find it funny how, despite all the hype around AMOLED and Super AMOLED displays, this new "halo" device is using IPS and everyone's saying how it's the best screen they've ever seen in a mobile device. I've never been that impressed with AMOLED tbh, either in my HTC Desire (which had an infernal pentile layout) or even in the GS2, the screen of which I still find far far inferior to my iPhone.

Note that I'm no fanboy and have had both iPhones and Android handsets and recognise their relative strengths and weaknesses, so please don't try to engage me in any childish arguments as I'm just not interested :p
