The man is an absolute joke, and nobody in the education field so much as listened to him never mind respected him. He lives in his own little world.

The typically left wing education world? I don't know what to make of Gove - he may not come across very well but that doesn't mean he's not a good Minister.

Err, no, not even nearly that. Show me one single constituency where the conservative candidate got a majority of the vote.

every single constituency that has a conservative mp?

or do you mean over 50%?

because that's just silly in any vote where you have 4+ options you wont get one that's a clear 50% winner unless something very strange is going on.

Or unless you use a fair and proportional voting system like STV. Any system where a majority of people voted against the winning candidate rather than for them has questionable legitimacy, and certainly doesn't indicate that you have better "local representation" as proponents of FPTP seem so keen to defend. If anything STV gives you better local representation by ensuring that you have a choice of representatives to contact.

It doesn't - you are always going to have a situation in any regular vote whereby if there are a number of choices the most popular choice won't necessarily have 50% or more of the vote - that's what happens when you increase choice.

Not under STV.

Funny how there's absolutey no media coverage on the anti-Tory protests...

That because it is normal after any general election. The upset people display their displeasure. Which they have every right to do.
