Actually it's a very good performance for Labour.

If it wasn't for the SNP making huge gains Labour would have it in the bag, to make any gains while losing pretty much the entire of Scotland is quite an achievement.

Lol - you should be a politician. :D

It is not possible to vote for the benefit of the whole of society. Only what you percieve as the whole of society and what you think it needs.

You vote firstly on your own priorities (not necessarily benefits) and then based on how you see society ie friends, relations, colleagues or just acquaintences.

Overall it balances OK based on seven degrees of seperation.

No.

Go and vote for who will benefit your own family the most. (Especially if you have kids)

That will give a truer reflection on where we are at as a country. Clearer picture of needs and wants.

Seriously? Do you live in isolation? I don't. When my local community is poor, I'm more likely to be a victim of crime, less likely to be able to see my GP when I need to etc.

A well functioning society is beneficial to me and my family. Why wouldn't I consider it?

And if Messi hadn't played last night, the score might have been different. But he did play...

The fact Labour cannot hold onto the likes of Glasgow is frankly a humiliation for them.

This is on the Gov.UK site:

When voting by post, you should:

complete your ballot paper in secret
complete the postal voting statement
put the ballot and statement in the envelopes provided
seal the envelope yourself
Post your ballot back as quickly as possible to make sure it’s counted.

If you’re too late to post your ballot paper back, you can hand it in to your local Electoral Registration Office or bring it to your local polling station by 10pm on polling day.

Seems they have to be counted by 10pm otherwise it doesn't get counted reading that. If posted today I guess it will just be picked up, hit a sorting office and then not counted maybe.

Doesn't seem to be much on the Gov site about last times to post etc to make sure it gets there.

What happens to postal votes posted today? Do they get picked up by the postie and put somewhere?

They get ignored because they were posted too late:

Postal ballot papers must arrive at the council offices by 10pm on May 7 at the latest.

If however you haven't posted it yet then:

If you have not had time to post it before polling day, then you can take it to any polling station in your area on polling day and hand it in to the polling station staff.

SNP will support labour anyway, it's the rest of the UK that's not as keen on labour from what I can see.

If England wasn't as keen on UKIP the tories would have it in the bag regardless of what Scotland does.

Thats what I thought. I just wanted to chide my friend who took great smugness in posting a selfie of him posting his ballot in the post box, this morning....

Well yeah if they pay taxes sure but people who move because they don't like the country and no longer pay in, screw them.

I love the country. I don't love the way it is governed.

Do you have to pay taxes to be entitled to vote now?

FWIW I paid UK tax for a year or so after I left despite not being required to, I'm a dirty tax overpayer!

Anyone who uses the M6 regularly should know how to vote :D

Polling station was full of old dodders stood around chirping off about something or other. Couldn't wait to get out of there :)
