Based on YouTube videos it seems to hold up very well. Slightly warmer colours but sharper than pixel 3. Pixel 3 turns night into day whilst iphone preserves scene a bit better. I've seen images where pixel looks better and some where iphone looks better. Both very good phones.

Yeah I saw a video that showed the differences. I have no need for the telephoto lense, it's mainly the low light photography that I'm interested in. I think the 11 should suffice for my needs.

My 8+ is eligible for upgrade, the 11 rage is coming in at £27/35/45 for a 11/Pro/Max 64GB, the ’old’ XS at £23, I can’t see a massive justification in this cycle over the XS other than camera/battery at the lower end and a new battery will mitigate one of those anyway vs what I have. OLED is probably nice and all, but i’m Not massively convinced I want to pay 66% more a month just for a slightly better camera/screen. Anything i’ve missed or is that really it?

8+ still good for several years imo. unless you absolutely need the better cameras id say stick with it. I have a 7 thats 2 and a half years. Will get a new battery and use it for another year at least.

I might have been living in a cave for a few years, but how does the IP68 rating work with regards to the lightning port?
Guess same question for all waterproof phones, i would have thought water going into the charge port cant do it much good

I’d agree, but in my situation it’s actually £3/m cheaper for me to take a new 11 or £7/m less than I currently pay to take an XS and I can do so without any upfront cost/penalty - paying less for newer hardware seems like a reasonable prospect vs. a 2 year old phone with ageing battery and no warranty for more. If apple had moved to 128GB/USB-C which are relatively minor, i'd have done it already, just frustrating that next year will likely see a more meaningful improvement.

I upgraded my phone on the Apple Upgrade program, on the same day Barclays sent me a series of text messages from 60305 asking for four Y or N answers about the loan.

Just checked my EE account and I was charged 13p per text for ‘services’ from other companies.

What utter ********!

Mind if I ask what the questions were?

Firstly, are you aware that your purchase includes Applecare? Please reply 'Y' for Yes or 'N' for No

Are you aware that AppleCare does not include loss or theft of the goods that you've purchased. Please reply 'Y' or 'N'

When you purchased your goods, were you made aware of other payment options available, including Apple Payments? Please reply 'Y' or 'N'

And one regards the ‘loan’.

Soooo the new matte rear gets marked rather easily...

Just before my case arrived in the post, oh well, won't see it once the Popsocket is on and I'll be trading this one in eventually anyway.

Will deep fusion come to both the iPhone 11 as well as the pros? Has anyone done a camera test with the wide lens between the Pro and 11 and are they identical? I am guessing the advantage with the Pro in terms of camera is the telephoto only?

:confused::p

the iphone is water resistant only (wording verified in store at regent street and blue water) and i have blown two iphone 8 plus by rinsing them under a tap to clean sand off. imho apple got so much heat from myself and others i would be surprised if the 11 is not better as i thought the IP rating on the 8 series was misleading.

i just feel it is a ruse by apple to get you to keep your applecare plus renewed every 2 years so i am not confident that the 11 will be as good as the IP rating suggests.

:D

I've said it for the majority of iPhones I've ever bought, it's the biggest anti climax of all gadgets I buy. It unfortunately doesn't stop me upgrading and getting excited for the box coming, after trying to find something new in the iOS, taking some pictures and testing the camera, it's then just like nothing has changed, other than being £1000 worse off :(

A very personal thing, but the Amazon Kindle (in a variety of versions) is probably my favourite bang for buck device. Huge battery life, light, and just works. I had one of the early 3G versions, and browsing the Kindle store and buying a new book in the middle of nowhere without worrying about what network or costs etc was incredible at the time. All done in a few seconds.

Running water puts it out of IPxx specification. Water resilience is tested and effective in chemical free non flowing water assuming you follow the guidance to turn the phone off afterwards.

many people don’t realise using the phone generate heat, which turns liquid to steam, which gets through various openings in the phone.
Turn it off and let it evaporate naturally
