Maybe I'm being naive but what's the problem having your phone replaced with an Apple factory refurbished device. Had my 5 and my X replaced with a factory unit and it looked brand new only thing that was different was it came out of a small white box.

Seriously? They'd normally replace a faulty phone with a second hand one? And people hark on about apples amazing service?
Surely within the first 30 days your entitled to a new replacement regardless of "policy"?

I think if it was within 14 days (Apple's return period) you can push for a new phone. They'd be daft to refuse as you could just return it for your money back and buy another if not. But outside of that, it's a refurb or send it off to be repaired. You would never get a refurb that is anything less than perfect though, they are factory refurbed phones at Apple, not just returns or phones with a quick repair

That's exactly the procedure. Because I didn't have my box and accessories with me they opened up a new box and just gave me the device

Yeah mine is going super slow!

I also need to pop back into EE to grab another eSIM. For all it's benefits, eSIMS are frustratingly annoying to get replaced.
It’s a PITA and so unnecessary

they could send you a QR code via email instantly for example, but noooooo you have to get one through the post or from a store

Apple refurbs are indeed properly refurbished (unlike what you’d get from a normal reseller where they go straight up for resale, maybe having been wiped with a damp cloth), but giving you a used device so soon after purchase just smacks of squeezing another dollar out of the unfortunate customer.

I don't think anyone would be getting used iPhone 11s at the moment. The guy in the store said on release they get sent a certain amount of handsets which are especially for switching devices

My store didn’t receive any service part replacements at all, just retail boxed units but were limited to Apple purchases only -
So sending other customers with issues to place of purchase

I had a retail part as they said they don’t have units for returns/repairs yet.

So they gave me a fully boxed unit, which was a welcome surprise as it means I get an extra cable and plug etc.

Lucky! They said cause I didn't have my accessories they just opened a box and gave me the phone. Was hoping I'd get all the accessories but oh well!

Well I will say one thing...the battery life on the 11pro is SO MUCH BETTER compared to the XS, I mean it really is night and day. I’ve been using it since launch...well day or two after it and I haven’t had to reach for the charger at any point before the end of the day. Especially impressive considering it’s new tech and you do tend to work it harder for a few days to begin with. :)

Did anyone sell their old phone to giffgaff? I've got an offer of £435 for mine which is an iphone x 64 gig in white which seems to be the best price at the minute. Just read a couple of bad reviews thats all. All packaged up ready to go but reviews are putting me off. They said lower price was offered on checking the device. I do know mine is in very good condition though.

Got the full £435 for mine, a few days ago.

People have very different interpretations of ‘very good condition’, that’s the main issue.

And I think it's commonplace amongst less reputable companies to simply offer a lower value than advertised by claiming scratches etc even when they aren't present. They hope the buyer will accept the low ball offer and if they don't, compound the rip-off by offering a "compromise price" that's between the value advertised and the value offered.
