apple saying they're not including a charger for 'green' purposes is an absolute farce. I'd get it if they included a charger this year then stuck with usb-c on the charger end for the foreseeable future but everyone is going to have buy a new charger now anyway, which makes all spare iphone chargers they say people will have at home totally redundant and further waste. They really are a scumbag company at times, obviously just to increase their profits, nothing to do with being green

I've always used Brodit Proclip mounts where the phone slides in and docks into the power cable. I wonder if the new version will be based on MagSafe. If so, I hope it's strong enough because the cradles have been fantastic.

I think we aren't ready for phones to have no wired charging, so many accessories and just the way you use the phone in general will make it too hard to manage with no charging wire.

Well that's partly true, but people who have spare standard type A iPhone chargers will also have spare USB type A lightning cables with them too.

The only people it really affects are those new to iPhone or those who only had one charger and lightning cable. I don't necessarily agree with their decision, but it won't affect me or anyone else I know in any way as they all have many regular chargers and cables lurking around.

I mean, there are definitely green benefits. Equivalent of removing 450,000 cars from the road each year isn't to be sniffed at. If more companies made an effort there could be a meaningful shift in how screwed our planet is.

I don't believe this was the sole motivator for Apple of course, especially since they just released a phone with a £40 MagSafe charger.

Will likely get the iPhone 12 pro 128gb in blue, but will wait till early next year, can't afford it just yet. Im due a new iPhone still using the original SE and think its time for a bigger screen.

Has anyone not used a case or screen protector for the whole time they've owned the phone? The stainless steel on the Pro would give me sweats so I'll probably get a case (not sure which but prefer thin ones). The screen protector has saved the screen from a few deep scratches on my XS but their new screen being better scratch protection... Suppose you only regret it if it scratches.

What do we reckon availability is going to be like tomorrow? Are they likely to sell out in seconds and then be waiting weeks?

Case-wise, I want the Apple leather one which apparently won't be around for another few weeks which is really annoying. If I do manage to get a phone in the initial batch then I might have to buy a cheapo case to tide me over.

Given that's been the case for nearly every iPhone release since moving to the online pre-order system, I'd say so :D

The only thing going in your favour is the fact the Pro Max isn't released tomorrow and many, including myself, are waiting until then

Yeah it will sell out as usual I suspect. Only things in your favour as Steedie says, Pro Max delayed and also they've delayed the entire launch ~1 month presumably to get manufacturing up to it's normal level. I've never had a problem personally, just set up your card & address ahead of time and use the Apple Store app.

You reckon the store app is a better bet than the website?

It'll be interesting to see the availability this time. I imagine the 12 and 12 Mini will be the ones most people will go for but there is of course the current situation meaning a lot more people are out of work and facing uncertain futures so I reckon availability won't be so bad this year.

Personally I've had the best results with the app. I always have my phone open on the App, then a PC with several browsers open aswell. For some reason it always seems to work on IE a few minutes before Chrome (I know it makes no sense, but it's happened).

Crazy as the full 5g spectrum will be on next years model not this one, only Americans will get the full speed. Also 120Hz screen next year by look of it. I'd wait for the refinement. Its a mediocre upgrade from 11. 10 and 10s users beware!

I'll cover my bases and have the app open plus local browser and a browser on my work machine via RDP which is on a nice leased line connection :)

Add the phone that you want as a favourite in the app, then when the orders go live tomorrow its only a couple to taps :)

Did the same last night ready for tomorrow.

Cheers all

Also forgot to say I am just going for the basic 12 64GB model, mainly because I can get that one for free next month via my work contract :)

Just checking the app for quick purchasing and it keeps giving me the postcode for the closest Apple Storage and no way to change it. Whether I ask for delivery or pickup.

edit: Managed to get it changed by going through the normal checkout and entering a shipping address there. Weird.
