So for someone looking to upgrade to a 14 or 15 next month is the dynamic island still a gimmick or have they actually given it any use? The extra camera of the pro appeals to me but not sure that alone is worth the price difference.

A gimmick to attempt to hide what it is and it still gets in the way of text and info from apps that haven’t yet taken into account a void in the screen

And it takes up more screen real estate than the notch - a backwards step IMO.

I like the dynamic island and find it useful for apps that support it, Music/Podcasts/Time/uber to name a couple.

Foolishly tried to update my 14 Pro Max the other day and it failed. Won't let me restore using iTunes or Apple devices. Can't be arsed to go to Apple or get it repaired so how much should I be asking for it in this state? Deep Purple 128gb

When you say failed what do you mean? What’s the current state of it?

Always found a way to recover via iTunes using some method or another but can help you more once we know some more info on what you’ve done so far etc.

It kept freezing at the same point of the update. Attempted to restore it via iTunes and it would do the same thing. It would begin the process of restoring then freeze and act as if I unplugged the phone.

iTunes and Apple devices now won't even detect it when connected to my PC. I have had issues with the charging port for a while but only if I moved the phone. Already cleaned it out and tried different cables with no luck.

Occasionally it'll connect to Apple devices but won't actually let me do anything.

Hmm sounds like some components need replacing, I'd probably just recycle it as broken should be able to get £200-£235 according to:

Also a 14 Pro Max is not that old, just take it to Apple and push them under consumer rights. They’ll likely repair it or give you a replacement.
