I've ordered a 15 Pro Max and have never owned an Apple device before. Going to try and transition from Android which I've been using for 14 years now I think? Making other changes such as a new job, new house in a new country (well, Wales :p) so it's going to be a fun time...

Hope to have the phone this week and have done lots of reading around making the transition from Android to iOS, but a bit nervous. Anyone else making the jump?

i made the jump from having Samsung ultras and thought id try ios. i have currently got a 13 pro max 1tb. and even have an Apple watch now. i too was a bit nervous. but in all honestly best thing i did. i have got the 15 pro max 1tb black on pre-order and cannot wait. most of the apps that were on Android are on iOS.. so if you use Gmail ect ect you be fine.

There’s way too much emphasis piled on the camera tech in modern phones - personally I don’t get it.
Don’t get me wrong, I like having a good camera for quick snaps but realistically how much camera tech does a person need to send snapchats of their food and make their TikTok videos - because let’s be honest, that’s what the vast majority of it is used for.
IF image quality is of such critical importance then just invest in a dedicated camera. Look at all the YouTubers out there who look to heap praise on the camera tech within phones, do they use said tech for their content creation? Of course they don’t.
I honestly don’t mean to be facetious about it but even the most bog standard of cameras outperform the highest end phones.

High end phones these produce really nice quality images, and as long as its a high end phone then I'd say a phone camera quality is far superior to a bog standard camera, even a decent point and shoot for example like the Sony DSC-HX99 which I've had the image quality is crap, noisy and smeared images in details like grass, the 14 Pro Max, hell even the 12 Pro Max produced cleaner images with less noise and no mushy details.

If you want a decent dedicated camera then a DSLR type camera is the only step up but then you have to carry an enormous amount of extra bulk around which I used to, only use iPhones as my main camera these days as the image quality is way more than enough for most situations.

Doze is Androids biggest pitfall.

For most people it's probably not an issue. For example I don't receive that many emails and none need to be responding to with urgency. I also use my phone often enough that it rarely kicks in.

Unfortunately I think many people have just passed it off as a feature rather than making enough noise for it to be addressed.

Regardless of what OS you use, wanting to receive notifications real time as they come in should be a core fundamental basic of any phone.

Better yet, for those who don't find wanting to receive notifications on time as urgent, give them the option for setting a schedule of when notifications from X app arrive.

Honestly I find notifications irritating. It seems most apps want to notify you about the most insignificant thing, and they make it near impossible to disable it.

I did that two years ago. Pixel 6 to 13 pro. Took a very long time to get used to it but I can appreciate many things about iOS. My last android experience was terrible because of how rubbish p6 was so left a bad taste. iOS is far from perfect and clunky in many ways but it sorta just works here so I’m taking the easy route and sticking with it.

The most annoying thing for me was i used to upgrade my phone annually (always Samsungs) it was always a worry if you were getting a Snapdragon soc or the vastly inferior Samsung own.
And talking about notifications. i know on Samsung phones i have no idea if it is the same on other ones. Is the way notifications are displayed? on ios the most recent notifications you received is at the top ect going down to the one you resieved a while ago. I found this really anoying and hated trolling through my notifications to find the one i wanted.

Pretty easy to turn off notifications for specific apps....
It’s easy to disable for the whole app, but it’s up to the app developer which specific ones you can disable if you want certain ones but not others. Usually there is very limited granular control.

And beyond iOS, why the *** do I need Outlook notifications within the app? It honestly just annoys me. The fewer the better.

I got a notification in settings about getting ready for my new iPhone and I clicked cancel and now it's gone away. What does it do and how do I get it back?!?

Check if it’s still visible in settings. Backs up your phone basically gets it ready for a move to new phone. Essentially they give you temporary “unlimited” cloud storage for the move and that’s it.

Ahh okay my bad, I follow what you’re saying now. I usually have this gripe with a select few apps for example news apps where I only want notifications for a select few topics rather than the entire range of news coverage
