Plus, anything to avoid O2! Their roaming data rates are horrendous, plus 4G is no where near as good as EE for example.

Perhaps still not as good as EE, but they're not so bad these days. Obviously EU roaming is free anyway. However the other week I noticed I now have "O2 Travel Inclusive Zone" showing up on my tariff which includes free roaming in quite a few non-EU countries like the USA, Australia, New Zealand etc. Quite good to know that I now won't get stung for £5 a day whenever I'm in the USA. List is here: https://www.o2.co.uk/international/travel-inclusive-zone

I mean data rates, as in speed. The free roaming aspect is irrelevant, it's O2's insistence on putting speed caps on roaming in some countries that's frustrating. I'm happy to have seen the back of them two years ago. I spent the most part of last week in Germany and Belgium turning on my hotspot so my friend on O2 could access emails as he had virtually no data at all with O2.

Well here my story was in EE store last wed as though about moving. He goes on and say EE 4g faster so I threw up speed test on my phone with 02 I was getting 32 download he was getting 9 should have saw his face

I was in an EE store and the guy threw the same challenge at me on my Three Network 4G. I got 26 and he got 72!! He said something about 4G plus.. :)

Sticking with my network though... does what I need.

I must admit I did notice my speeds while in the USA and Canada were pretty terrible (which made the fact it cost £5 a day then even more outrageous), though apparently the throttling there isn't as bad now but I'll find out when I next visit. Never had a problem in any of the EU countries I've visited though. Even in rural France the 4G connection seemed perfectly acceptable, though I never did any tests.

What network are you with? I'm on EE going to Boston and Ohio next week... Need to see if they charge me an obscene amount to roam there, otherwise I'll tether off my work phone :)

just picked up my 256 xs in grey now setting it up and doing icloud restore

Just two quick questions

What case do people recommend? I want one that will protect it from scratches etc but not add bulk want it to remain as close to original size as possible once case is on if that makes sense??

secondly now there is no home button how do I double tap or whatever to close background apps?

Love it so far tho

I’m using the official silicon apple case. It doesn’t add much bulk but offers enough protection.

As for closing apps you swipe up from the bottom and hold. It’s very intuitive.

Edit. One new thing I’ve found, if you swipe left or right on the bottom of the screen you can instantly switch between apps. Mind blown.

Yes the bottom bar swipe right is awesome, still trying to get to grips with swiping up and right(ish) to show open apps to then close then? Or am I just doing it wrong ....

You don’t swipe up and right. You just swipe up and hold for a millisecond then let go.

And yeah that feature is great ! :D

I'm on O2. I think you'll be fine with EE as their roaming does seem to be pretty good (my work phone is on EE, I never had any probs with that in the USA) though it does look like it's £4.80 a day to use it over there. Not sure if that'll vary depending on options on your tariff etc though.

Will double check I’m sure I added a bundle on the last time I went over there?

Just an update on my issue, soon as they saw panic in analitics and I was in the 2 weeks they said just return the phone for a refund - luckily they had stock so I did a exchange.

Currently setting up now. :)

Great service from apple as always :)

Even if you were out of the two week period.. I reckon they still would have just straight swapped.
