Do you actually use it all day everyday though?

My main use is when I wake up and when I go to bed, I don't use my phone a great deal at work due to company policy or being busy when working from home and on the weekends I don't spend much time on it either, you're making it sound like your glued to it all hours.
I do indeed. I'm actually on my iPhone 7 right now replying to your post. :P

So for me.. it will definitely be worth it. :D

One of the biggest appeals of this device for me is the size vs screen size. I prefer the size of the smaller iPhone but I don't think the screen is big enough on it and the resolution is too low. They really should have put at least a 1080p screen on the smaller standard model over the past 3 years. I'm still tempted by the X but I will wait until reviews are out and we have a better sense of any issues etc.

I seriously cannot fathom the issues with faceID that various places are claiming. I know slating apple products is a quick way to get views on your blog or whatever but apple will not have half arsed faceID. The failure on stage wasn't due to the software/hardware, it was a very simple security precaution that is present on every touchID iPhone. Enter the wrong fingerprint or face enough times and it requires the passcode to re-enable.

I reckon I use my phone actively for at least 5 hours per day. Modding this place, reading Reddit, taking photos, using it as a screen for my drones, playing games while on the bog, etc. etc.
So for me, £1k on a device that gets used that much is not a big deal. My car cost 30 times that and gets used about 1 hour per day. No one complains about that.

Design wise the phone is lovely. But unfortunately I still find iOS boring to use.

Hopefully the next Pixel will be lovely in terms of design also.

fearing the cost of mobiles in the near future £1000 for a phone is ridiculous for something that's hardly any better/worse than devices out there.

People still spend silly money on video cards that are hardly better than other ones further down the line, same for CPU’s and lots of other things.

The top model of anything always has a price premium.

Apple sell iPhones at many different price brackets, nobody is forcing you to buy the X.
