I think the context was pretty clear, do you really want to waste time arguing over the meaning of luxury?

No worries, i'll just somehow lojack into your brain and change the definitions provided in the dictionaries to somehow align with whatever point you're so eloquently trying to get across?

Of course they're a luxury item - A luxury item made out to be as luxurious as they're said to be? Hmm.

But it's also the worst feature. Small screen size. After having a + model, even the standard 6/7 feels like a toy phone. God knows how I'd find a screen that small.

Different strokes. I can't go back to a bigger phone, it's too much of a pain in the ass on the motorbike trying to get some giant thing out of your pockets every time you want to check the GPS. I have an iPad mini if I want to do other things, which never gets used as I do all of my media consumption on my laptop...

Anyway, the big phones are a bit too.... girly for me. Especially the white ones. Just an opinion.

I don't mind my phone whilst i'm on my motorbike but I keep it in my jacket internal pocket. Not too much of a fuss for me as when I do use it for a satnav, I just look at the directions on my watch.

In the 9 years I've been with Apple I've never had a white iPhone. They just look tacky. I'm gutted the X isn't in the matte black. The iPhone 7 has had my favourite finish.

Force of habit in the front jeans pocket. I did have a 6 on release day and had it for a year, traded it in on the SE on release day. I just really, really hope there's an SE 2, otherwise I'm stuffed, the small Android phones suck monumental amounts of arse.

Similar specced phone to the X doesn't yet exist. As it trounces anything on the market at the moment and will do for the next year probably.

You need to compare it to November phones, it's not on the market yet.

I too am on iCloud, also have all my passwords, bookmarks, even photos synced. For example, one thing I do right now is post photos on my instagram account, because the way Instagram works, you can only upload from a mobile device, I drag an drop my photo into iPhoto, which automatically appears in my Photo in the phone instantly. Then I upload to Instagram.

I have to figure out how I can do a similar thing to an Android Phone…from my iMac.

I also have to figure out may be how to use Google Drive or Dropbox in place of iCloud. I have a 1TB storage on Dropbox so in that regard, cloud storage I am sorted.

Music I just use Amazon Prime Music so no problem there. iMessage I wouldn't know because I don't text that much, can possibly replace it with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

The Plus thing with the phone I just ordered uses basically a stock Android OS so minimal bloat.
I thought you knew that there is a lightroom instagram plugin?

You can only buy a similar specced phone if you are happy to use android. Many iPhone users buy iPhones specifically to get iOS and not android. Me included. If I didn’t care which OS I had, id probably own a cheap android phone as opposed to an iPhone 7 Plus. But as iOS is my most wanted/needed spec, I have an iPhone.
So whats wrong with the existing iphone 7 or even 6? they both perform as good as an X in real world usage in all honestly. Cant see the X or any other phone being noticably faster in real world use.

We have come to a point where hardware is way ahead of its software grunt.

Unless Software apps began to become more cpu/memory intensive, Your web browser and facebook and twitter app will run no faster on the X then it did on a 6/7

According to what? Or is that conjecture?
According to various youtube videos that demo launching things like chrome and instagram and timing its lannch.

Plus my very own experience in using various android and iphone devices at work and as a daily drive. All perform the same in real world use.

Do you honestly believe this X phone will launch facebook twice as fast as it on a S8? thats real world use. Check it out and you will see it doesnt.

Hardware is ahead of its time for the past 2 years. Apps are very well optimised especially in android so they can run in low end hardware. Its the same with iOS. they dont make facebook work only for X do they.

facebok , instagram etc all work perfectly fast and reliable in 3-4 year old iphones because those apps like many other popular apps dont need more than 2gb ram/dual core CPU.

iOS is a bit gash though? The apps make the phone as Windows phone found out.
iOS is the best smartphone OS out there if you ask me. It’s part of an overall integrated environment with different devices all working nicely together. It’s also made by a company you can trust, unlike android. It’s well supported, fully featured and reliable.

It’s everything a smartphone OS should be if you ask me.

Facebook will definitely load quicker on the iPhone X. React Native is such a stupidly wasteful way of writing mobile apps.

But that’s not the point of the extra grunt. The point is to enable new types of applications using augmented reality, machine learning and advanced image processing.
