***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I got totally screwed by Play to - got to the *final* stage of checkout twice only for it to crap out on me. 16Gb version was gone inside of 15mins.

This was so laughably poor I can't believe it wasn't planned to generate publicity. It was that bad.

Actually - it rather explains how they can afford to sell them so cheaply - the innards out match high end smartphones for half the price right? so they must be losing money. BUT if they only ever intended to sell a handful with one big publicity (good or bad, its all good right) splash then they actually won't lose that much money and will keep releasing a trickle of devices through Play while people get screwed and Google get more cash through the networks like O2.

Scam? By any other name.

I wait and see what happens in the US before coming to that conclusion? Has it been released in the US yet?

My order has been pending since 8:19 - should I have received a confirmation email by now? (sorry if this Q is in poor taste for the people who didn't manage to get through :()

You might be on to something there. I know it was always going to be popular, but not THAT popular.

In the play store, at the bottom of the page is My Orders and Settings i think it's called, your order should be in there if you're worried with estimated delivery date.

Handtec just emailed me and said that they're still awaiting confirmation of their allocation of stock and have no timeframe as to when the Nexus 4 will be available

Can anyone else who's managed to order one just confirm something for me please, my confirmation email says they won't charge me until the phone is dispatched, the play store is telling me estimated dispatch is on the 15th, but I've checked with my bank and I've already been charged, is this the same for you guys? Or is there something wrong?

I had a Nexus 4 sitting in my cart at 8am, got distracted with work... Went back to it at 1030am and clicked Buy and it completed...

Its sitting in my Google Wallet as pending (delivery estimate 15th) and the cash has been marked as pending from my bank account :)

all they have done is allocated a sum from your bank.. they haven't actually "charged" you yet :)

one of you guys might get lucky with my 8GB,

im still 50/50 on if i should wait, If new stock will be less than 2 weeks im tempted to wait until the 16GB is free.

So if there is anyone near Sheffield or stoke who wants it for cost (including the postage i had to pay) you might be in luck.

Selling out in xHours always generates publicity - so there may be an element of that, but I think the rest of what you've said is quite laughable. They're not loosing money, they're selling at/near cost. The Nexus line has also always been aimed at devs, making use of the features of Android and not always the top of line hardware, if you want to write an app that is compatible with Android then you test it on a Nexus - they're not going to kill that for sake of some headlines on a few tech sites.

TBH I might switch to the Padfone 2 now. Same S4 Pro chipset and Asus are pretty good when it comes to updating their devices.
