***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I think I could live with the screen of the nexus 4, but having poor blacks and possibly poor viewing angles (again, seems to vary with each device as some people/sites say they are poor, others say it is great) would make me a sad panda :p

Just finished reading gsmarena review there and:

- benchmarks are poor! However, they said the phone feels very fast and smooth so not a problem
- audio is great, compared it to the S and GS 3 results, does better in some parts and not as good, however, it is so close that it isn't worth worrying about
- they say the camera is very poor and barely any better than the galaxy nexus  Most sites have said the camera is very good and the majority of shots looks to be as good as the X/S and GS 3, in some shots, I would say better, so not quite sure what they are going on about there.....

BTW the back is NOT gorilla glass! LG and google have confirmed this. EDIT: Beaten like a ginger step child :p :o

My thoughts too - SAMOLED and a SD slot/64GB would mean this phone would have replaced my S3 LTE!

Yup, I think I will definitely give this a miss now, overall it seems like a down/side-grade from the S etc. IMO. Still a superb phone though especially for the price!

Me too, I could live with the accurate colours of the N4 (though I do prefer them to be over-saturated on a phone). But I can't stand grey blacks and contrast shift now that I'm soo used to them being perfect.

Oh well - we agree it's still a CRACKER for the price!

Just cancelled my order, the GSMarena review helped me decided.

That's one more for those who want to get their hands on the N4, it might be 4-5 week wait though. LOL!!

just read the review on the gsmarena

but still after reading the cons of n4 i still kinda want it because of the price.

although knowing that back glass is just standard glass it got me into thinking mode. does this mean it will break with drop of less than a foot ?

For the price the N4 is an absolute bargain!

However the glass back is rather fragile, there's been reports of the back being damaged very easily on various forums, so I would get a decent case for the phone pretty sharpish.

yea the price is what really got me wanting to enter the smartphone world for the first time

it will be a massive change whenever i get the n4 (if i decide not to cancel) since my w580i survived a drop in the stairs :D

So far i think its great. Only first day of using it. Battery wise. Actually impressed. Although i've not really done anything taxing, its sat at 72% after 11 hours.

Stupidly quick (coming from a desire), colours look fine to me, viewing angle is very good.

Minimal web browsing (googling and the odd youtube vid), texting and e-mails really. Setup various accounts and tested. Can imagine the first phone call will kill it. But so far so good for me. I need a case though. Too paranoid, waiting for my slip case from the rain forest to get here.

They don't make phones like the W580i no more!

The N4 wouldn't survive a drop from any height...sad but true

The Black's are not that bad, the status or navbar isn't grey. They look pretty black to me, they totally blend into the black frame. You got to look very carefully to notice its not 100% black. And this me coming from a S3 and GNex before that.

Viewing angles are ok for me too, if you view from the side there is a bit of a yellow tint, but not something you will encounter from daliy use.

After using the N4 for over a week, I much prefer the screen to the S3. Which I find quite grainly when going back to it.

Well it's not going to ever match the blacks and viewing angles of OLED displays. That was always to be expected.

Why do people care so much about viewing angles? Do you regularly view your phone from the side?

When showing 2 or more people a video/photo or something, with good viewing angles like on a SAMOLED panel it means they will see whatever it is at its best without any colour/contrast shift.

Also I use my phone a fair bit when it is just sitting on the computer desk or beside me on the couch.

It is just a nice bonus, which I appreciate every time I do the above.

The viewing angles on the one X are amazing, as good as any phone with a AMOLED based display.

I will have to see a nexus 4 for myself to decide on the screen.

lol at the benchmarks on the gsmarena review, embarrassing almost. Hopefully it is literally just a driver issue and not this dodgy throttling thing thats been thrown about because thats shocking when the optimus does so well.

Tempted to cancel and wait for the htc butterfly but then there is always something else around the corner and it will be nowhere near this pricepoint eh.

Yup another vote at driver's not optimised.. Pretty sure the performance should be at the same level of the Optimus G. If there's one thing i have learned in buying Android phones, that is always get a Nexus!
