***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Unfortunately there is no hard evidence to say that it is "hardened glass" though, as I said my galaxy spica and other phone screens, which weren't GG or hardened glass afaik didn't scratch when I tried with metal objects.

Besides as I said above, it doesn't matter much what type of glass it has anyway :)

Well a few guys have been in contact with LG they say in this thread over on XDA, they seem to think it is definately some sort of hardened glass.

"LG has been pretty clear about this since day 1, the back is not Corning Gorilla Glass. They have specifically informed reviewers in the press to not call the back gorilla glass. It is some other kind of hardened glass, either from Corning or another maker. Gorilla Glass is a brand name. Don't get hyped up on brands, they're near-meaningless."

It isn't meaningless either as normal glass has a wider range of materials that can scratch it etc.

Nillkin matte case is good, and doesn't add much bulk.

I'd agree. The case is such a good fit that I can't actually get it back off without quite a bit of effort, and it doesn't make the phone much bigger. All in all, I still prefer the phone without, but it's relief not to have to be paranoid about scratches whenever I put it down on a worktop or desk.

Well whatever it is, it would be nice if someone could get google or/and LG to confirm what it really is as nearly every single review, even the "top" dogs have referred to the back as being gorilla glass 2.

Source? Could have sworn that LG and google confirmed that it was just plain glass when someone tweeted them about the back being gorilla glass 2.

Many people are reporting scratches on the back.

I seriously doubt the back is any sort of toughened glass.

Mine scratches so easily. It is no way GG2 on the back, a very 5cm drop caused a huge cut, and I also have 5 scratches over the devices. And before you start I have been taking better care of this phone then anything else in my life . My 4s did was much stronger and I dropped that at least once a week.

The huge scratch is probably a crack, nothing will stop a drop from cracking a device if it hits at the right angle. Had mine without a cover since launch and still to this day do not have a scratch on front or back.

Like I said before the back is far more likely to pick up scratches from small grains of grit or sand as it's put down face up.

Anyone had changes on the Play account today? The date of my order has updated again, this time its moved from 2nd January to today. People on Xda devs have reported the same along with money being pending on their cards.
Crossing fingers and toes.

I get its a crack but it was from 5cm dude, and it was the lightest of drops, it didn't crack straight away too, i picked it up and checked then I heard the crack after that. More so the problem is all the scratches without it dropping at all, its not something I have seen on any other glass back phone. I never keep anything in my pockets and the front and sides are all perfect so it must be getting scratched from the smallest of things like taking it in and out of my pocket.

It could just be my phone is a dud but it doesn't seem to be very strong on the back.

The back of the 4S isn't toughened glass either.

I know, and the 4s never got a scratch or damage at all for me at least. I really dont get the obsession of Android OEMs now with glass back, its like the 1 thing most people hated the most on the iPhone and now it seems Sony is also adopting it. Why can't they be like HTC that tries to do their own style, or even Samsung. LG more so just seems to rip of Samsung and Apple more and more with their phones.

My order change in the play store then I got the phone in 2 days, so it could be a good sign.

Interestingly, mine has changed also! Delivery estimate is still showing 16th, but the "date" heading now shows 17th Jan. A long time ago this used to show Dec 5th and then that changed to Jan 5th a while back as well.

Also I am missing a chunk of from my cleared bank funds. So we are both in the same boat!

Same.

Date on Google Play now says the 17th Jan, Wallet hasn't changed, but nearly £300 is pending on my Credit Card.

WOOTCOPTERSANDAWESOMEBALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

£10 postage ;)

I'm in Malaysia... I thought I was being completely ripped off with £310 for the 8gb version, but it turns out they only have the 16gb one here.

Should be quite an upgrade from my current phone, although I don't think it will match the "charge it once a week" battery life...
