***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Angsta to control data and wifi check out an app called llama locations it will do all you want and more it can work via times or your location.

Secondly, a case recommendation, there seem to be so many but I'd like one that's hard plastic, not too thick and is either just a bumper so you can see everything or a case that doesn't double the depth of the phone. Don't want a flip one either.

Nillkin matte case is good, and doesn't add much bulk.

Cheers.

If you are not bothered about seeing the back then the S-line Gel cases are really good and dirt cheap.

Otherwise I can also recommended the Poetic bumper.

Got both a they are both good.

Another video :)

Amazing. Really really great rom developer.

I think it's pretty sad rich companies like Samsung or HTC don't come up with really creative tools like this. Instead they just reskin Android over and over, they could clearly be doing much much better if the PA team can achieve this.

Looks an alright case, don't like the open edges though.

I'm pretty careful with phones so it'l do for me as some protection. Plus for general carrying around in pockets it'll be in a Note 2 leather pull case.

Having to hold a large rubbery sided phone in my hands would annoy me no end, hence the above choice.

Does the N4 have a glass face and back? Reading the past few pages about people dropping them is a little worrying :( (Using a San Fran atm).

Source? Could have sworn that LG and google confirmed that it was just plain glass when someone tweeted them about the back being gorilla glass 2.

Many people are reporting scratches on the back.

@ 4:15

"And it's got Gorilla Glass 2 too front and back"

Straight from the horses mouth.

I have a Nexus One lying here on my desk which is normal glass and it feels completely different to the touch.

I know, I have seen that video and every review has stated that it is gorilla glass 2 too, but later on LG or/and google tweeted that it wasn't gorilla glass 2, trying to find it now.

Also the nexus one does have gorilla glass.

You shouldn't rely on what it "feels" like as the GS 3 has gorilla glass 2 yet feels completely different to the one X GG 2 screen.

EDIT:

Found it:

EDIT:

Doesn't matter much any way though as no matter what type of glass it is, it will still scratch just as easily when sand/grid comes into contact with it and both types will shatter when dropped.

Source for Nexus One having GG? Everything I have ever read has stated it does not, as do the many many scratches on my screen suggest it does not.

@1:00 for back glass test

It has to be a hardened glass or metal would scratch it.

The reason people are getting more scratches on the back then front is because people put their phone down facing up, so obviously the back is going be more prone to come into contact with the materials that do scratch GG2 or hardened glass.

Also car keys didn't scratch my Samsung galaxy spica screen, which wasn't gorilla glass.

Knives, keys etc. won't scratch gorilla glass but sand/grid will easily scratch any type of glass (that is mainly how people get these scratches on their screens). I doubt the damage is coming from the phone just sitting on a table etc. unless they are sliding them across and there is a bit of grid or something underneath.

I've seen many discussions on the N1 screen also as it was my phone for a good few years, and the general consensus was that it was a rather poor version of hardened glass slightly better then normal glass but not as good as GG.

Plus I never said the N4 had GG2 on the back I said it wasn't normal glass but a hardened glass of some type, you said it was a normal glass, it isn't.

I am well aware of the materials that can scratch GG. :)

The nexus one is also listed here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devices_with_Gorilla_Glass

But then the note II etc. are listed as well, yet they have GG 2.

Unfortunately there is no hard evidence to say that it is "hardened glass" though, as I said my galaxy spica and other phone screens, which weren't GG (or hardened glass afaik) didn't scratch when I tried with metal objects.

Besides as I said above, it doesn't matter much what type of glass it has anyway :)
