***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

Got my G2 from Amazon.de and it feels great to be back to the device again. Really missed the epic battery life and the extra screen real estate.

Am glad I didn't get rid of the cases I had from owning the G2 the first time around.

It's running version 802a of European Firmware I guess 4.4.2 updates around the corner and I'm looking forward to checking out the improvements that the software update brings.

This looks like a bargain phone for the money, a quick search on Google is showing prices from £289.95 although this is for the 16GB version

I am guessing that is getting delivered from Hong Kong? They might not make it obvious initially. No problem if it is, use a credit card or PayPal and cover yourself. It's a massive bargain at that price.

Has anybody set up a VPN on the G2 yet and if so what are you using?

Thanks...

Sorted, using Private Tunnel...

Whether the screen is better is subjective. Having an sd slot is an advantage if you need it (I dont). Just the extra bezel and size of the s5 is off putting. The pros and cons would be negligible if the s5 wasn't almost double the price. For £320 the g2 is about as close to perfect as you can get, imo

Where can you buy it for £320? My note screen has been destroyed and I'm tempted to get one as a stop gap whilst it gets repaired!

I assume this is a better phone than the nexus 5 for battery and camera?

I traded my nexus 5 for a G2 because of the better battery and camera. I have been delighted with both aspects. Amazon UK had them for 320 last time I checked.

Simply Electronics, they also have the 32GB version for £307.95 although after a quick search on Google they have had a few dodgy reviews, shame as I though I'd found a bargain :(

I've been disappointed with battery on the N5 and i'm looking at a G2, is this the 32gb version? Does this also have a sd card slot?

It is still a bargain - your credit card company takes the risk. You've been paying 20% APR all your life, sometimes there is an upside to the s****ier things in life!

I was going to purchase my one from them too, but I was too impatient :D

The battery is a HUGE step up from the N5. I got 4.5 hours screen time with my nexus tops. With the G2 I often get 8+. Even though its only an extra 20% battery capacity LG's UI is better optimized.

£320 on Amazon is for the 16gb which is a great price. I'm not sure if you can get the 32gb in the UK anymore so you will have to get an import which cost around £300 if I remember correctly.

I can't remember exactly so don't take my word for this but I think the imports coming from korea/hong kong have an SD card slot and a removable battery. However, the battery capacity is reduced by 10/15%.

Like I mentioned previously, if you decide to buy an import do a little research on the company. Bear in mind when reading reviews online that these phones are getting shipped all the way from Hong Kong; there is going to be occasional problems caused by post and just general logistics. Everyone will leave a bad review who has a problem whilst I would guess that 10% of people who have a perfect transaction will leave a good review. Bear this in mind while researching your company. Use a credit card or paypal for payment that way you are covered financially should a mishap occur. Finally, make sure you choose a registered delivery method with tracking although I am sure this will be included with even their most basic post.

This phone is a beast you will not be disappointed, even when the new phones come out this year for double the price with their gimmicky heart rate sensors and fart sound level measuring dB meters.

Not the D802 from HK, just the SK model.

I'd recommend buying an import that's already arrived in the UK. This is what i did, from ebay. It means you don't run the risk with things like import tax.

I had the F320S ( SK model ) , It came with 2 x Li-Po 2600 mAh battery batteries , 32GB and SD card slot, a phone dock which charges the batteries.

The phone is slightly thicker due to the removable back, and the batteries are only 260mAh rather than the 3000mAh fund on the International version. In saying that I always got a full day out of it and then simply put the second one in when I got home.

I see there's a Korean seller offering the F320S for £320 ( 'Make and offer' also ) on eBay. There's is the chance of import tax but you can ask for it to be marked down If you're willing to run the risk.

Lovely phone, If a little unexciting. Tempted to pick one up again myself but the new G3 is out in June even though I think the design will be very similar, as is the form these days I'll probably hold off for this.

Phone updated to D80210e however the interesting thing is that LG's servers are currently down and some people on XDA reported that they have already received the 4.4.2 update.

Maybe LG may come good re the promise of delivering KitKat on the 14th March.

Looks like LG kept to their promise.

Update notification just popped up.

EDIT Now updated to 4.4.2

There isn't an option to switch from Dalvik to ART.

How's KK running stoosh - much improved smoothness?

It's running smooth but not as fast or fluid as the Nexus 5.

The annoying micro stutters when going in and out of apps have disappeared and Chrome is easier to use.

However the SQ when playing music has degraded a tad and is one of the issues that LG need to address in their next update.

Overall I'm impressed but it still isn't up to the N5 standard however battery life on this device is a godsend.

How's your Note III running with KitKat?
Was going to get the device but will wait for the Note IV instead.

Are you talking about sound quality through the speakers? And did you get the update over the air or did you flash it?
