***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

So nobody running into that issue?

Another thread on XDA talking about the issue, with one poster claiming he got a response from google acknowledging the issue:

" Hello I understand you are getting a Music Playback Error on your LG G2 after updating to the Kit Kat software. I want you to know we have a team of specialists working very hard to resolve this issue. At this time their is a compatibility issue with the newest version of Kit Kat that was rolled out by the carrier to the LG G2.

We are working very hard to resolve this and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'd recommend using a different device for now but I totally understand if you wish to cancel the service. If you'd like I can cancel this subscription and refund you for your troubles. Please let me know what you decide, I'll be in touch with you as soon as I receive a response from our engineers.

I have notified LG and Google about the issue. It seems like the buck is being passed around concerning the music playback issue in GPMAA, but Google reckon a fix is incoming.

So no G2 owners are running into this issue on 4.4.2? It seems a pretty common issue

Sound is brilliant, cant fault it at all. Only issue I get is the auto rotate is sometimes very daft, ie you need to fully hold the phone straight to get it to turn back.

Overall brilliant phone, keeps up and the battery life is awesome.

Biggest draw back is lack of storage. You need to use the cloud and if your on a small data package it can be hard.

I find the audio quality very poor, there is a hiss at low volume. I almost exclusively use my Bluetooth adapter now. That aside I think it's a great phone!

What's the best ROM and kernel for the G2? I'm giving my wife my Nexus 4 and getting myself a G2 (hopefully!), and would like to put a custom ROM on it.

I've been using ParanoidAndroid with Matr1x kernel since I got my N4, so looking at PA again, but any advice appreciated. :)

finding a 32gb g2 in the uk

Decided to get a lg g2 to replace my 4s that has lost wifi, after seeing how good the moto g is but would like to keep a decent camera. Apparently LG will not honour the warranty as the 32Gb are not supported in the uk.
Amazon.de have them for £290 but would amazon uk support it? Need something soon.

Expansys UK have the 32gb model

Haha just seen you have commented on hduk already ☺☺☺☺:-)

expansys do not get very good reviews or I would have purchased by now.plus this worries me
I've just called LG UK (0344 847 5454 if anyone wishes to call), and have asked the very same question: is the warranty valid in the UK, and would LG UK service any repairs should the phone become faulty?

Jenny who I spoke to told me LG would NOT carry out any repairs, as this isn't a UK model, despite the EU wide description on Expansys. She said that the hardware is different, and they do not facilitate repairs for that, and only for the 16GB version. That model is the 'official' UK variant.

For those of you who are rooted and brave enough to try it...G3 ROM running on the G2 with 4K recording.

Check it out

I bought a new G2 recently (D802, 32GB) as it is so cheap now and stocks are running low due to the G3 replacing it. I chose it over the G3 as it's much cheaper (bought it SIM free) and, for me, the size is much more comfortable.

First thing I did was to root, install custom recovery, nandroid backup, and then install the OptimusG3 v1.2 ROM.

Everything just works, looks great, and battery life is epic! I'm really impressed with this. Anyone with a G2, I recommend doing this (at your own risk of course). Just shows how good the G2 is, very underated I think.

Seriously tempted to do this also but getting tempted by the 1+1. How much did you get the G2 for?

Got it in Singapore for $400 (~£190!), couldn't resist at that price and it's the international version so works fine in UK (only local warranty though).

I was also looking at the 1+1 and got an invite a while ago. Played with an Oppo Find 7, which is almost identical physically, and found it too large to handle. Also no FM radio which I use quite a bit when at home and abroad.

What I love about the G2 is the 5.2" screen in a body that is more compact than most 5" phones. I find it so easy to use single-handed. The only thing I dislike is the slimy glossy plastic rear cover but not a huge issue, just need to clean regularly.
