LG Star

Anyone been looking at this BEAST of a phone? LG are trying to get back into the high end smartphone amrket with a 4 inch dual core tegra phone with 8MP camera.

Engadget recently had a play and this is what they said.

. Basically, Tegra 2 will give anything your current phone's running an inferiority complex. J.

This is seriously shaping up to be one of next year's highlight devices (and if it isn't, it just means 2011 will be a spectacular year in smartphones). We'd almost call it a return to form for LG, but then the Korean company has never really had the sort of form the Star's exhibiting -- it's never led from the front in the way this handset promises to do

Here is a quadrant score on a prototype device

You may score more with custom roms etc but not on stock I bet , hell I had 2230 on the galaxy s with a stock rom.

Looks alright but I dont want it because its an LG :(

Similar to what i was about to say myself...the fact that its made by LG is a fail imo...LG handsets arent exactly made very well.

Nice specs though on it..tegra chipset....

Looks like it could be a great multimedia device. Let's hope that they add a lot of video codecs!

From the recent LG press release

The LG Optimus 2X will be available in Korea next month with countries in Europe and Asia to follow. The phone will initially be released with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The upgrade schedule will be announced in local markets in due course.

Key specifications:

- 1Ghz Dual-core Processor (NVIDIA Tegra 2)
- 4-inch WVGA screen
- 8GB memory (up to 32GB via microSD)
- 1,500 mAh battery
- 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera
- HDMI mirroring
- 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording

will be looking forward to the full review on this... and great new phones to come in the new year. Roll on April...

That benchmark is considerably slower than the DesireHD. Plus having using the Toshiba tablet with the Tegra I am less than impressed.

Plus it is LG, after the Viewty... never again.

Quadrant should be banned from the market, I can't believe how many people consider it's results any use. I can get my HTC Desire to a score of over 3000 but it means nothing.
