***The Official Manly Shaving Thread***

Recommend me some after shave balms please.

I have used literally dozens of different ones but I have 2 favourite ones:-

Bluebeards Revenge Post-Shave balm
Body Shop Macca Root aftershave balm

2 also excellent but expensive ones are:-

Clinique Post-Shave healer
L'Occitane Cade aftershave balm

Had my 2nd DE shave last night, 4 days after my first. I am looking to shave twice a week ideally.

This time around I have considerably less irritation, I only went WTG anfd XTG. This left a lot of patches where I could feel stubble and I wasn't completely happy with how close of a shave it was, even this morning I could see stubbly areas because of this.

My neck still has red-ness and spots from my first shave but I am hoping this will go eventually if I don't shave against the grain.

Are these still the best for beginners?
The Merkur 34C or The Edwin Jagger DE98L
The Progress Vulfix 660 Pure Badger Shaving Brush
And a shave cream for sensitive skin

Or should I just get a electric shaver? :p Either way I'm tired of the cheap gillette shavers...

Real men don't shave, we have manly beards, chop down trees with our bare hands and wrestle bears just for fun.

They also put on womens clothing and hang around in bars......

Tried the Arran Aromatics shave cream last night.
First impressions are that it lathers well and smells fine. Prefer the ToBS at the moment but mostly as I prefer the smell but will stick with it.

Ok, its an electric shaver but I just bought a Philips AT796 CareTouch rotary to replace an old Philips HS8420 Nivea which lunched its blades. Replacement blades were going to run to about £70 so I picked this up in a sale at a well known high street catalogue shop. Very pleased so far, gives a much closer shave than I expected when used dry and gives a shave not far off that of a wet shave with a traditional blade if you use it 'wet' with gel or creme applied. Really handy for those times when you just want a quick tidy up without having the luxury of time to prepare your face and enjoy a 'proper' wet shave with a blade.

If anyone is considering a new electric shaver, I can recommend this one. :)

I still have my old shaver with blunt ish foils for a quick tidy up when I don't have time for a full wet shave.

So first shave with my new selection.
Coming from Derby's I used the feathers .
I have to say that was a fine shave, defiantly felt like a much smoother glide. Got a great finish from a single pass whereas I usually have a 3 pass shave I did a second for good measure but it was largely unneeded
:)

Going from a Derby to a Feather must feel like a massive leap. I like the Feathers but find them too sharp at times. Astra's let me shave with haste where Feathers will cut me to pieces.
