*****THE OFFICIAL***** MASS EFFECT THREAD

I had the same problem Shicky although from past experience, I saved extremely regularly over a few different save files. Still lost about an hour and a half through it though.
Bad luck :(

You should be able to start a new campaign with your character as-is. It won't bring back those hours, but it will keep your stats and items :)

One cheeky thing people noticed is if you sell all your high level stuff at the end of the game, when you start a new character when they go to the buyback screen of any merchant, the items you just sold are still there.

The trick of course is making enough money to afford them without selling to the merchants, which would reset the buyback menu.

rofl, has anyone encountered that yet? I've always had a saying "If a game contains cows, it'll be successful!".

Yeah seen that, he stole a credit off me so I ran him over. Then his head got stuck in one of the Mako's wheels and I spent the rest of my time on the planet dragging around said roadkill :/

Did that once with a geth, after running over a few, I noticed that the Mako was going slower and more bouncy

Then I went over a big jump and a geth body went flying from underneath the Mako, dragged him across 1/2 the planet :D

Finished my first play through and it was truly awesome, took me 21 hours but I missed a lot of the side planets. Just started a straight laced female Adept on Hardcore, we shall see if she stays that way though. :)

My first character I started with the intention of making him bad to the bone. However there were times where I just couldn't stick to that so he ended up 80% git and the rest good guy. It was pretty cool for it to pan out that way, he was a twisted soul.

I completed AC on saturday and went straight to town to trade it in against Mass Effect (got the collectors edition)

Having a blast so far, and have only been playing for about 2 hours (dont get much time on the 360) but I've re started twice and settled on Soldier :D

Cut scenes are fantastic, very cinematic and keep the story going nicely

Only gripes are as follows:

Combat seems rather......sluggish?? I'm not sure if this is just me, but it could be more fluid if you know what I mean. During a couple of fire fights I sent my team mates in only for them to get wasted, so I need to get the hang of the D pad orders I think.
Also, not a fan of the inventory system. (the weapon ones, where you can assign weapons etc) it's quite counter intuative, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it given practice.

:) Anyone else notice much screen tearing?

So i can start a new game easy enough with exactly the same char!? like same level and all? What bout my team will they be same level? Could speed through to where i was then.

Mass Effect has the worst case of tearing i've ever seen. In fact, i wasn't sure what tearing looked like until now.
the first 12 hours no problems, then i visited the world with path 15 in, it looks horrendous, more like a poor PS2 game graphically.
It's put me off the game completely, though admittedly, i'm not a fan of sci-fi stuff anyway, but i was half enjoying the game up until this happened.
Anyone else had tearing this bad?
I heard some people mention it happen on dead rising and a few other 360 games, but i've not seen anything to rival this

Noveria - peak 15

Just had a glimpse at a walkthrough, seems i'm not far from the end, might as well finish it i guess.

just a bit shocked at how bad the game looks on this level- especially when the first parts of the game looked great.

What exactly looks bad? Tearing isn't bad graphics, it's merely a refresh rate/display issue.

You're about half way btw :p

Put it this way. On my second play through (currently on my third) I had maxxed out cash at 9,999,999 and still do right now. Cash flies in once you hit Lv40.

So should you start a new game with your existing char, everything transfers over that is for your char - cash, inventory, skills and weapons. You will have to obviously encounter your team all over again so when you meet them, they'll be low level newbies. However upon joining you, they will have the appropriate training points for use dictated by your char level.

E.G I just restarted at Lv57, and Ashley and Kaiden had 60 or so training points to put into their skills. So you effectively re-skill them.

.
becomes a mute point with rank10 spectre weapons and other rank10 items as they each cost around 1mill by themselves :p

Just had another bash at clearing the level which I am stuck on and it was getting to the point where I wanted to smash my controller through the monitor as it's impossible. It's retarded.
Back to the shop for a trade on something else tomorrow methinks!
