The Official Microsoft Flight Thread

They have done a decent job with MF. Having played FSX for many years, this is really great for some causal flying fun. Lots of different missions and jobs.

I bought the Hawaiian adventure pack and its opened up so much more. Also using a flight stick, way better than a mouse.

Highly recommend this.

If I find myself playing a lot more I might buy the adventure back. The 360 controller works well for this, but I might buy a flight stick if I get into it more.

There is certainly a lot they need to add to this game, but it is one of the most enjoyable flight games I have played for a while.

For some reason it makes me want to play Just Cause 2 again though :p

Given that this is free to play Microsoft Flight is worth at least trying and at least by having it free to play for a basic version it prevents the need for having it loaded with copy protection. Although one of MF's competing games Xplane 10 has copy protection is nigh on impossible to get around and torrent prove, lol.

Seems there is a bug at the moment where the game isn't saving progress :( - so cant do any missions. Will have to wait for a fix.

Not seen that yet mate? I'm having no issues at all.

I see they showing Alaska add on at Pax East this weekend. I guess that's going to be a future add on :)

enjoying it so far got it last night. think im going to get the dlc for it aswell, although my extreme 3d pro stick is on its way out i think, the Z axis is turning slightly to the left!!!

I might be tempted when it is on offer at some point. Paying full price for DLC I could see this game getting very expensive very quickly. I am still waiting for the patch to fix the non-saving aerocache problem - apparently it is in testing.

So another cockpitless plane released. I'd love to know if MS actually take any notice whatsoever of the feedback posted all over the place. They appear to just ignore it and I haven't seen any acknowledgement from them about missing some tricks here.

So are they going to make a "proper" FS 11 with the updated flight engine and superior performance, is this a long way off?

I agree - you just cannot compare FSX & Flight. One is not "better" than the other - it cant be because they are two very different beasts. I just laugh and bring out the bucket of popcorn when reading some of the threads in the forums on the big flight sim websites.

All the jaded hardcore simmers crying because the Icon is not like PMDG and where the heck is the FMC anyway blah blah blah. Us simheads (me included) KNOW Flight is NOT aimed at the hardcore simmers who play FSX in Captains hat and full uniform with a "Flight Deck Crew Only" sign on their chair.

:D

Its aimed at the CASUAL Jo Schmo on the street...to prod them a little and say "Hey there, curious to get an insight into how airplanes fly and what it takes to learn to fly small planes? Check this out!"

Start it, fly & have fun. Thats what Flight is. Us simheads are also (of course) aviation nuts as well...so a game that introduces aviation to the masses can only be good news. Who knows...a chunk of the Flight gamers might one day look to more hardcore sims like FSX, XPlane & AeroFlyFS once they have their fill of Flight.
I agree utterly with your post.

But the problem is, MS have not given us any information on if there will be a FS 11 and it seems to us that flight will be the "new direction" to MS flying games and all future MS flying games will be following the direction of flight.

Which is speculation.

Update.
