The Official Microsoft Flight Thread

Very ture, give it 4 years & it will be like railworks on steam £800 & going up every month.

Of course, the content on Railworks is made by MULTIPLE DEVELOPERS, each getting their slice of the pie and making Steam an easy place to purchase/install ALL DLC for the game.

Unlike FSX where DLC install was sometimes a complete mess so Railworks should actually be applauded.

What if i download it off steam, will i get the Hawaiian pack added which i bought from GFWL.

I will ask good qustion as that code will already be linked to your GFWL account.

I never knew that, I thought it was all made in house.

No, which is one of the reasons I get annoyed when everyone slates the game for all the DLC available.

What they chose to do was unify where the DLC was purchased which I think is good idea as all DLC is downloaded through Steam with minimal fuss.

Imagine if you costed up and listed all the DLC for FSX :)

I am happy to buy DLC I already have done for Railworks & Flight if it's a game I like & enjoy.
I look at it like a magazine partwork or a music collection, it gives me something new to look forward to in my sad & boring life

downloaded on steam but it wont run. comes up with the 'preparing to launch' box and then nothing happens and my steam icon returns from 'in game' to 'online'. Worked fine a few weeks ago on gfwl before my hard drive decided to shred itself and thought a steam copy meant it would be much quicker to transfer onto my desktop next time im home to give it a proper try.

Tried rebooting and validating cache to no effect. Also tried googling this problem but cant find anything. running a hp tm2 with a 1.2ghz dual pentium u5400 and ati 5450 (i know...)

only thing i dont like about it is the controller isnt mapped properly and when i use my controller I still see keyboard letters popping up. making me have to open the settings and see what is what

I agree - you just cannot compare FSX & Flight. One is not "better" than the other - it cant be because they are two very different beasts. I just laugh and bring out the bucket of popcorn when reading some of the threads in the forums on the big flight sim websites.

All the jaded hardcore simmers crying because the Icon is not like PMDG and where the heck is the FMC anyway blah blah blah. Us simheads (me included) KNOW Flight is NOT aimed at the hardcore simmers who play FSX in Captains hat and full uniform with a "Flight Deck Crew Only" sign on their chair.

:D

Its aimed at the CASUAL Jo Schmo on the street...to prod them a little and say "Hey there, curious to get an insight into how airplanes fly and what it takes to learn to fly small planes? Check this out!"

Start it, fly & have fun. Thats what Flight is. Us simheads are also (of course) aviation nuts as well...so a game that introduces aviation to the masses can only be good news. Who knows...a chunk of the Flight gamers might one day look to more hardcore sims like FSX, XPlane & AeroFlyFS once they have their fill of Flight.

tried again this morning and it launched fine. anyone else having steam issues, it appears to be on steams side and you'll just have to wait it out.

Flight are waiting on steam to open up the steam-flight forum.
There you will find a sticky with help on how to make steam & GFWL work nicely with each other.
At the moment it is steam holding things up.

I doubt the game not working is Steams fault.

The forum is up.

My game would not run last night when it launched, it did not give an error but I had to install the GFWL client then all worked well.

I never said it was steams fault that flight was not working.

I said flight are waiting for steam to put the flight forum up so then flight can add a sticky post to help users to get flight working when using it with steam.

As it's about 3-4am in the US this is not going to happen right away.

Just started playing this, is there a way to stop my other screens going blank when the game is running in fullscreen, with any other game my other screens continue showing my desktop but with this they all go blank.

Think this is a new bug that has happend after this weeks patch.
As someone has posted about it on the beta forum, but I have just posted your post there aswell.
