The Official Microsoft Flight Thread

You maybe are very easily amused to fly for 5000 round in circles in an unrealistic environment with no atc, very basic aircraft and little that resembles real life except for the fact that the aircraft have wings and the trees have branches.

I won't be getting Prepar3d either... PMDG won't be developing addons for it. FSX at 30fps is far better than a game at 60fps.

Without knowing my involvement directly with MS in the past versions of Flight Sim, the time invested and the feedback submitted I suggest it's best to say nothing about what I do or don't contribute to the community.

Something has obviously touched a chord with you and I'm terribly sorry if you haven't got your fix today. I was the person who posted this thread anyway so it shows that there was great interest and enthusiasm before this was released. Proper flight sim fans were taken for a little walk up the path and then the community as a whole was in uproar when the real nature of this product came to light.

Why do you feel the need to put players off MS Flight?
No fix needed I am having a bit of sport with you as I find it strange you feel the need to do it.
So is it a hate campaign?
 
Where did I say I am putting anyone off MS Flight? Did I say somewhere that people shouldn't download it?

I did say that nobody is interested in it anymore. That is a sweeping generalization which in my view reflects fairly accurately on the general feeling within the Flight Sim community.

I don't know what your issue is. I have stated my own opinion on the game. If people like yourself can get turned on by flying 5000nm around a few islands then maybe it is actually of interest to some section of humanity.

I am sure you do know what my issue is as I have pointed it out three times already in everyone of my last three posts.
Here is my issue for a forth time.

Why do you feel the need to put players off MS Flight?
So is it a hate campaign?

And you still feel the need to put players off MS Flight with you last post.
Strange behaviour that FSX hardcore players go out of there way to do this.
Even away from the AVSIM forum & on this general gaming forum.


I will leave you now in peace or to continue your hate campaign with the other FSX Hardcore fans.

I have never seen such hate for a new game in all of my 30 years that I have been playing computer games.

Over on the AVSIM forum it's like the NVIDIA v ATI graphics card battle.

I myself am not saying MS Flight is good or bad nor am I am fanboy but nor am I a hater.

ONLY reason this is coming out so soon is because MS are shutting down all of their PC gaming related services so want to get it out the door quickly as they have nothing else planned or announced on PC.

Windows 8 is going to have native Xbox LIVE For Windows (GFWL replacement) that is the real focus for MS now to monetize with microtransactions PC gaming via their next OS :eek: AOE Online + MS Flight are the test cases it would seem.....

Let's try this again. It isn't difficult. I have said already that this is my own opinion. I am forcing nobody to accept my opinion. I work with MS products all day every day so I am not a MS hater. The new game isn't for me or any other hard core simmer. I don't know where this hater nonsense comes from. It's a game for any sake.
 
Geez garsands I think you are over-reacting a bit!

Where do you equate a few posts saying it's a bit rubbish into a "hate campaign"? What's you're problem when people do answer your two simple questions you disregard the answer and insist it's a hate campaign (lolz?) rather than peoples justifiably disappointed opinions.

Time for disclosure, are you a MS flight dev?
 
I think MS have shot themselves in a foot in a big way by alienating the likes of OrbX and PDMG.

I dont think that MS devs will be able to get anywhere the realism and quality of PDMG planes. They just haven't got the passion for it that the PDMG team obviously have. Look how long PDMG releases are because they want to get it as perfect as possible.

I think MS could be eating humble pie a year or 2 down the line.

Me, i'm sticking with FSX and can't wait for the 777.

I encourage everyone not to download this game.

The way MS have handled it is a shambles, it stinks.

I hate this game and encourage everyone else to do so :)

Props to MS for stirring up soo much hate for a game when they should be generating hype - lol
 
Well I for one am looking forward to it's release. I have only recently started playing FSX but love it. Soya should be paid by MS for his shots he gets as they look stunning and they are the reason I brought the game.

No jets is confirmed for full release? I know the FTP bit is what we've seen in the beta, but surely they'll have jets for the DLC?

Just to throw my 2p in, I think if they hadn't changed the sales model to FTP->DLC then it would've been great. Performs well, looks great, fun things for newbies to do with structure for more playtime.

The only real killer is that I can't fly where I want to go without paying first, and I can't fly the aircraft I want to fly. It all hangs on the costs/quality of extras for me. I still want it to be good. And it could be. If they suddenly decided to release it as an open world with all the aircraft for free :p

The stock game is rather "meh".

It is the mods which give it the "WOW".

And it is those mods which will now be liable to all sorts of MS politicking.
 
From the rate this is going, it's just going to be a game where you fly little prop planes around to look at scenery and not the fully fledged game with civil air routes etc..

FSX is going to be better to be honest...

This is what it is, its a basic flightsim nothing more & MS have not claimed to be anything else.

You do get full working Radio Navigation VOR,DME,NDB,ILS on all the islands.
So it does have some again basic depth to it.

The problem is for some reason the hardcore FSX fans thought MS was making a new updated flight sim for them.

There misunderstanding now they are VERY VERY upset about this.

And some of the hardcore fans still don't get it, that MS Flight was never ment for them.

I would have thought when MS sold part of MS FSX to Prepar3d this would have let them know that MS was not going to be making a replacement for FSX. Why would Prepar3d buy it if it was about to be replaced.

If you want a basic flightsim without 100's of buttons to press to fly a plane then try MS Flight its a free download for the very basic planes.

If you want to press 100's of buttons then use FSX.

The only other thing about MS flight is it has room to grow into something more.
While with FSX you are stuck at the moment with 20-35 FPS
With Flight I get 50-60 FPS fully maxed @ 2560x1440.

With the kids comments are they going to want to learn about VOR,DME,NDB,ILS Navigation.

When this thread was started it was started with the op thinking it was going to be a FSX replacement. If you want that MS have got it covered & have handed that task over to Prepar3d.

So win win & happydays all round.

If you want a in depth very good flightsim but shame about the frame rates buy FSX or Prepar3 for $500
If you want a basic flight sim download MS Flight for free.
