*** The Official Microsoft Surface Pro Thread ***

That is exactly what I need mine for.

How the hell did you get one

I've had mine for about a month and a half, bought it off MobiCity, they have a UK website but also an Australian and New Zealand one, and when I ordered I think they had a stock of US Surface Pros they keep overseas and they are then shipped to the UK when needed, cause it took about 10 days for me to receive my Pro.

Course you're going to pay more than what you will normally pay when they (ever) get released in the UK and warranty claims could be a bit difficult (though you get a warranty with MobiCity, so I'm sure they will deal with any problems should they arise). I started using my Pro at Uni, and it's been amazing, probably the best thing I've ever bought I would say!

That's my Surface Story, don't know how Skidder got his Pro though?

ordered today and arriving tomorrow, directly shipped from Manchester.

thanks Michael 10.

now what are the best apps to go for with this thing. I work in IT so anything useful I should be grabbing ready?

thanks

Wonder what sort of premium they ar compared to the actual uk rrp...
Bro-in-law lives in nyc... might be worth a punt...

When I wasn't looking the rabbit had a nibble today at the charger. Sadly it was the end coming out of the power pack, and not the standard lead that gets plugged into the wall. Managed to get it working again by patching up the opening with insulating tape, but there was that moment when I thought I wouldn't be able to charge the Surface!

They need to hurry up and release this in the UK so they can start selling the accessories in case I ever did need a replacement!

Got mine yesterday from mobility. Bit of a learning curve going from iPad to this and windows 8 but I'm getting there. Windows 8 though is much better on a touch enables device.

Battery life is a bit :\ after the iPad.

Toe.

Oh of course but from reviews I read 4-6 hours. I'm currently getting 3.5 just doing light stuff. Still its early days and I've not played enough with various tweaks.

ye, battery is the obvious let down and pen holder. the rest is decent

I do like it.

I am awaiting for my type cover to arrive. I am still a bit cautious with it and ideally would like a nice case to carry it around in.

does a decent one exist and one that won't let it over heat.

I was looking at this one http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Rotatory-Detachable-companion-Microsoft/dp/B00B0O16XK/ref=pd_cp_pc_1

and using this pen holder for it http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RNRYN4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

5months before I expect to say a massively massively improved surface 2.
Unlike apple/android updates that you can take or leave, surface two will be an insane update, mainly due to haswell.
To little to late IMO.
Lets hope they learn and don't **** up w8.1 and surface 2 launch.

I'd argue that mobile improvements are far more than what Haswell will be to Ivy.
You've got a habbit of over exaggerating.
Haswell will improve IGP and power, CPU performance update won't be very far at all, unlike mobile.

There will most likely be minor changes in battery capacity, maybe screen quality etc..

Can I wait a month or am I likely to wait longer and see what Surface Pro 2 brings, or perhaps the Surface Pro 7"...

See what "before the end of May" actually translates into, and how much it will cost, given I have people I know in NYC it might work out cheaper to get one shipped over rather then wait for the Rip off Britain taxes to be added...
