*** The Official Microsoft Surface Pro Thread ***

I'd argue that mobile improvements are far more than what Haswell will be to Ivy.
You've got a habbit of over exaggerating.
Haswell will improve IGP and power, CPU performance update won't be very far at all, unlike mobile.

Mobile updates aren't all that, as nothing uses the power.
Haswell is not about speed increas,e they are already fast enough. The power on the other hand, is what will make a massive massive difference if their claims hold true and substantially better on board gfx helps as well.
But your underestimating the power advantage.

As you know I have an ipad2 and haven't downloaded one app I fell needs a faster CPU. I would like the retina screens no most of all I crave for more ram, so stuff didnt refresh.

Even i3 in my laptop is fast enough, however battery life server lay compromises win8pro tablets and is by far the biggest complaint.

The US price works out at ~£750 the last time I checked, I bet it wont be though given "rip-off" Britain, as you say we'll end up paying a grand for it...

Well thats just killed the original Surface Pro market then, dont care when they release the Pro in the UK now if the new one is just around the corner..

that article suggests its a smaller screen version, if so it wont kill surface sales.
not that theres much sale to kill.

they need to release 8.1 and they need to release surface 2 at the same time.
1080p on rt with a decent arm cpu and 4g
and surface pro needs haswell and 4g.

I agree with this, I am due to go to the US later in the year so I may pick one up then. :D

None of that is of any use to me, I have an RT that gets used but not as much as I would like as its not got the poke or the full fat Win8 installwhatyouwantability..
I want a Pro and I want it now, we get nothing concrete from MS for months even though its out in other places..
And annoyingly, you can get on the US MS site, pick the pro, touch cover, spare PSU, screen protector and its $1281 which equates to less than £800, you can bet both balls that'll be a simple £/$ conversion leaving it at £1281...

Annoyed with waiting, annoyed with lack of concrete updates, damn you MS damn you and the lame donkey you rode in on...

I hope with Surface 2 they do things right.
A 400 pound product that has the same performance as a 130 pound tablet (Acer 7" Tegra 3) isn't exactly the way to launch a product in a crowded market.
Albeit I've got one, but second hand.

If its true £799 for 128 is a very fair price.

Its exactly what it costs in the USA + VAT.

No extra.

That price is less than I thought. I still wouldn't buy this particular model but if future Surface Pros are there or there abouts its an interesting choice to have.

Nothing concrete as far as Haswell Surface is concerned though, perhaps something at the developer conference..

Prices are still out, they pay $999 for the 128Gb, thats less than £700...

Ahh ripoff britain..

It's hardly ripoff Britain, USA prices exclude tax, which depending how and where you buy it, you have to add on to the advertised price.

As above that a very fair price for uk.

To close to haswell for me, I got a temp laptop a month or two ago, so I will wait for a haswell tablet.

Ahh do they, fair enough then I guess..

It is close to Haswell yes, and if we had the normal $-£ that we usually get then I certainly wouldnt get one, however if the price above is correct an with possible cover deals in the water then I'll be a damned sight more likely to get one than I was a few days ago..
Even with the Haswell ones pretty much a certainty I'll get one now and pass the RT to the techsupport guy here, then when the Pro2 comes out he'll get the Pro and so on. Its nice to have a department where you can buy things and then pass the older stuff off to someone else, means your not really wasting the money...

I've been looking for a 1080 ultrabook and have been a bit put off with prices above 1k.

This little thing might just do the job! Add a wireless mouse and it could be a great replacement for my Samsung 530u with its crap resolution.
