Anyone ever sent a device in to Microsoft's warranty centre?

I'm just going through the process to send my SP3 in due to intermittent touchscreen faults.

I have a few times, generally an easy process, if you are lucky you will get to speak to Orlaith over the phone, something about that Irish accent....:D

So the call centre is still in Ireland. It was an Irish company that my company lost the contract to back in the day.

Yes, mine was even a USA model. They let you print a UPS label and I took it to a local shop, then a replacement arrived via courier a few days later.

Microsoft are at IFA this year (early September) to unveil a new device. I hope that means Surface Pro 4 with Skylake cpu as skylark is due out in September.

I hope so, very nearly bought a SP3 recently but trying really hard to hold out until I know the SP4 specs as it may not even be worth the wait.

Just got a surface provided by work, 256gb i7. Quite impressed so far, the screen is very nice (Although having a few issues with the internal screen resolution after using an external screen). Fan is noisy but I can live with that.

Looking forward to Windows 10 as I had to install VMware Workstation due to the power saving issues with Hyper-V, but I understand Window s10 fixes this issue.

Shame they don't have 16GB ram as I wanted to have a few VMs running on it. Strange use maybe, but has anyone tried installing ESXi on a surface? I was thinking of doing this and booting from USB for building test setups when needed, or even booting from the microSD card.

The screen resolution thing is fixed with Windows 10 apparently, something to do with scaling, you can have one system wide scale level, where as on Windows 10 you can have it per monitor..
Fan, if you have just got it then no doubt it'll want updates and such like, once its all up to date it'll quieten down a bit.
16Gb, yes, I want that as well, for the same reasons.

I thought I'd clean my 10 install up and use the recovery option to wipe all preview builds away.

It screwed up the whole system, and I'm stuck with an inaccessibly boot drive error.

Now I have to download the recovery USB and go back to 8.1.
