*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

Although need to check Chinese one works fine first, it's now at local sorting office, so I hope they try to deliver Monday. Excited. Should be so much more powerful, being a core M and everything.

If it's the one I think it is, be prepared for issues. I've ordered the same device and apparently they're all arriving with cracked copies of Windows 8.1 on them and dodgy shielding between the WiFi antenna and the SSD causing random reboots and BSODs.

W8.1 update 3.
September.

Basically early w10 preview start menu, no Cortana and well not much.
Sounds utter **** and don't understand the reasoning. Win 10 rt exists, so why not just throw it pn. Ok technically the display is 2" to big to officially run w10 rt but as they say w10 scales to anything.
The only sensible reason would be if tegra 2/3 and snapdragon would not support w10, but find that highly unlikely with the line up of WP.

Anyway I should be rocking a core M tablet in a few days, so surface 2 can go in the bin.

Everyone was saying that MS was killing off their Windows RT stuff.
And I can't imagine any Windows 10 RT tablet ever existing.

Microsoft are just dumb, and the writing's been on the wall for ages.
Half tempted to ditch my Surface 2 for some 1080p Atom device. But I have an S3 Pro, but I want both an S3 Pro and a lesser tablet :p

My battery life seems great now about 3-4 hours with average use over a day with light use. I like win 10 on the surface but don't like the tablet mode, prefer win 8 in tablet mode, hopefully it may improve with updates.

Has anyone been able to activate a clean windows 10 install? I couldn't get it to accept the 8.1 product key the surface came with.

Pay for postage you have a deal as I can't sell it. It's battered to hell. But still works.

Did bledd hit you up on that deal?

I gave my laptop to my mother and a surface 3 is a bit expensive, could really do with something to tide me over!

From other posts I think you're meant to leave the product key blank when doing a clean install of Windows 10 and it should automatically activate if it has been previously activated as an upgrade on the same machine.

Other than cracked windows, no other issues yet. Not used it a hole lot as moving house atm and I'm away this weekend.

My Surface Pro has been like molten lava this evening. Looked in Task Manager, 100% CPU utilization due to Edge!

My Pro 3 is not very happy with 10 either.

I've been experiencing that same issue, plus audio issues.

My Surface has started popping when using headphones after there has been no sound for a little while.

Getting to the point where I'm tempted to restore 8.1. (or sell it in advance of the SP4)

TBH I'm of the same mind on that one. Getting seriously tempted to go back as the only thing I like about 10 is the Xbox streaming. As a tablet OS, 10 just isn't as good as 8.1.

Thanks, I hadn't updated to 10 previously, ended up creating a usb recovery drive, reinstall 8.1, upgrade to 10, then clean install 10 and it activated.

Also does anyone know if it's normal for a SP3 put into sleep with ~50% battery left to completely run out of power in less than 12 hours?

Pretty sure I have seen some odd 'Sleep' battery drain since Win10 also.....methinks that there needs to be some power optimisation updates et al

Getting mightily fed up with the SP3 pro now after the windows 10 update:

Onenote fails to load , just hangs on the purple screen
Touchscreen doesn't work with chrome or Lightroom (so far) or Spotify or photoshop..
Oh.. and also the surface pen even after battery changes hangs for 10 seconds, then comes back and sometimes doesn't wake up properly I have to unwind the top which is slowly ruining the thread on the pen itself!

Sigh... here I am just checking windows updates constantly, has anyone else had similar problems, I expect not!
