*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

I caved in and purchased a SP3... Updated to Windows 10 and so far I really miss Metro IE :D.

Will still be keeping my original RT as it has great battery life and isn't too slow!

Guys, those who upgraded to 10 and don't have a type cover attached does the tablet keyboard pop up when logging in? I keep having to use the awful accessibility keyboard to log in. Strange still, if the type cover is attached the tablet keyboard pops up when I tap into the pin code area!

Generally have the type cover attached, although folded back......that said, I do remember not getting the keyboard pop up at login screen a couple of times a week or so back, but since whatever updates have since arrived this has not since manifested......

Surprised at the prices on eBay for the S3 LTE.

Now the LTE 128GB version is £385.00 seller has 50! (I got my 64GB for £330).

There must be a good deal on bulk buying the LTE version somewhere.

Anyone any thoughts on the Pro 4 yet?

I'm going to say that it'll be the same general chassis as the Pro 3 with the same dock and keyboard connectors.
Extra camera hardware in the top for "Windows Hello" support.
Intel i7-6500U/6600U CPU (not bothered about the poverty spec i3/i5's :D ).
Newer N-Trig Stylus.
USB 3 still, I don't think they'll go USB-C on the Pro yet, we have nothing here that is USB-C.
Heat and battery life will be slightly better due to Skylake and the associated chipset changes.

I'd also like them to redesign the PSU as well, given that power goes in through the same connector as the dock, and the dock has USB, there's no reason why the USB port on the PSU can't be made available to the device rather than it just being a USB charge point...
Screen, I don't see the need for 4k on the device itself although there will be higher res available through the mDP port.
LTE, don't see the need for this personally, although I understand why others want it, if the chipset has it built in then it should be standard.
RAM, a lot of people are saying that 16Gb is coming, I'd rather have that personally than extra drive space.

I would be if they were a) cheaper and b) had decent battery life. Can't see i7 having decent battery life.

One article says the Lenovo has 9hrs of continues video playback, which if true is amazing.

Looks just like it. Could be a Surface killer.

Yep, I'm just so glad someone else has taken on the kickstand, I hope the OEMs do a better job of tablets this time around. No one could even get near to MS quality.

It will be interesting to watch the upcoming models from the likes of Lenovo......

I do really like my SP3, with the only frustration (so far!) being the woeful battery life I seem to get when watching Sky Go! Not sure if it is Silverlight inefficiency, or something else, but seems to eat battery and even the charger attached does not seem to charge at a decent rate when viewing

I think it's Silverlight, nowtv kills my laptop compared to amazon/netflix

Well I'm delighted... managed to pick up a Surface 3 (non pro 4GB/128GB), type cover, pen, carry case for $733 (they knocked $100 off the Surface price and the carry case was free) while in Vegas... works out around 480GBP so I'm pretty delighted considering the UK price for the 3 alone at that spec is 499.

Just set it up while out here but will get a proper play with it when I return home... however I will say it appears to be a very capable device. Delighted with the value in the purchase.

Finally a hands on of the Lenovo in English.

Just two issues, looks like a bog standard USB charger, not a magnetic one. If that true that's a massive downside, all though I have recently discovered after market USB detachable magnetic cables.
And real sense cameras if you spec the, are on back, so can't be used to unlock.
