*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

Hopefully the spiritual successor to the current RT (I say spiritual as IMO it should have BayTrail so not technically called RT) will be £400 with the touch cover.

And speaking of the next gen, if the new RT has a 7-8", 1920*1200 screen, Snapdragon 800, the same build/screen quality as the current gen and with similar physical dimensions to the new Nexus 7, I'll definitely pick it up.

Also found this ad on YouTube, and can't for the live of me understand why Microsoft decided to go with dancing school girls over something that actually tells people about the device. But then maybe that's why I'm not in marketing...

Edit:

Does anyone know what the smallest available screen sizes are for 3840 × 2160 (Ultra HD) and 4096 × 2160 (4K)?

Ortustech 9.6", but don't expect it to be in shipping products for a couple of years.

I think they should release basically a Nexus 7 copy, except with the Surface build quality.
Price it at 300, then bring out a Baytrail one in place of current Surface RT.

I just can't see how they're going to do this, we know X86 are going to be cheaper than they are now.

Rumoured Surface RT 2 spec:

Here's what I know about Surface 2, which will look identical to the current Surface RT, though I've seen images of a white version of the device (in which only the front screen bezels are black).

Platform: Next-generation TEGRA processor

Screen: 10.6-inch, ClearType Full HD (1920 x 1080, or 1080p)

Battery: Up to 8 hours

Weight: 1.5 pounds (estimated; appears identical to current Surface RT)

Thickness: .37 inches (estimated; appears identical to current Surface RT)

They need to be launching them with 8.1 as default.

I imagine it will be, it isn't going to be available on announcement day, pre-order at best.
Let's hope they don't **** it up again and release it 7months late or whatever t was. Shame I had to spend my surface pro 2 funds on something else, gutted.
Will be very much looking at the surface 2 though.

Looking at bench marks the tegra4 isn't bad.
Just edges the 800 CPU wise.
And either 11fps behind or 1fps in front of the 800 GPU wise, depending on benchmark used.

Tempted to get a Surface 2, but I assume my current RT has like no resale value :p

Would cost me wayyy too much to upgrade lol.

Might just sell up and get a Haswell one.

what are reseale values of Surface at the moment ?

Keep spending money on other stuff rather then tablet and new one might be a chance of me getting first RT at bargain price ;)

Full on x86 tab for reasonable money - http://blog.gsmarena.com/asus-launches-bay-trail-powered-transformer-book-t100-asks-349-for-it/

The 10.1″ display is of the IPS variety and has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which is rather mediocre for a display of such size . Nevertheless, the 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 and 2GB dual-channel memory.

Measuring 26.4 x 17.0 x 1.04 cm, the ASUS Transformer Book T100 weighs only 550 grams. Adding the dock increases the thickness to 2.36 cm and adds another 550 grams to the weight. There are also a microUSB port for charging as well as a microHDMI output and a headphone/mic jack. The keyboard dock adds a USB 3.0 port to the mix.
