*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

What's wrong with the surface rumors?
The surfaces were good except the CPUs, screen res on the rt. they've all been solved.
Should have 3G/4g as well as that's built into the tegra4, pro has 8gb ram.
Seems like a good iteration to me, seeing as apart from CPU and lack of mobile not much wrong with them.

higher screen red would be nice and it is worth remembering that these are the first devices being announced. Once bay trail is out hopefully there will be more options. The Nokia looks nice but for that money Id want retina resolutions to make up for it being RT

The main thing I was hoping for was Windows RT being relegated to the Surface Mini, and the Surface moving to Bay Trail. I briefly owned an RT and found the lack of legacy support really limiting in laptop mode, and Bay Trail should finally have enough performance to be usable for more than content consumption.

I guess realistically there's not a lot else they could have done, although would be nice if it was closer to 600 grams.

And the ~40% battery life improvement on the Pro implies that the battery capacity hasn't changed, which I hoped was because they were making it thinner/lighter (the Pro with cover weighs more than an 11" Macbook Air).

But then as you say better take it all with a pinch of salt, Microsoft are surprisingly good at keeping leaks to a minimum.

Do any of these mobile sites offer trade ins for the surface pro just like old mobile phones?

I really like my pro, but if they released on with better battery and a slimmer body and lighter weight, I'd be tempted to try and sell my pro and pay the difference. If a Surface Pro is released that is the same and just has a Haswell processor, then I'll probably just keep my current one and buy one of the new 'Power Covers' that are meant to come out along with the new models.

now as well as the didgy screen, the charging port is starting to die on the ipad.
They beeter have some cheape RT tablets out on the 22nd of octber.

From what I've read atoms do not come with office installed, well they do, but you need office 365 subscription or license etc. basicaly its a trial version you can activate.

I think its MS policy to bundle Office 2013 Home & Student with everything that's 10" and less, I'm pretty sure the ME400C has this now as well.

The current rumour is that Surface RT will continue @ its current price ($349) and Surface 2 (RT) will come in at exactly the same money as Surface RT was introduced at ($499).

I think the 8" will be the low cost model when ever that sees the light of day.

8" is far to small.

For your needs I presume? I don't think we are going to see anything cheaper than the current Surface RT deals. I am sure once the remaining RT stock has gone they will lower the Surface 2 to the same price.

What price are looking for on the 10" Surface 2?

Personally I grabbed an RT on the education deal (£200 with touch cover) and running 8.1 I find it quite an acceptable device for word, excel, outlook, netflix etc although I'm well aware apps load slower than an ipad/android tablet. I have struggled to try and work out what I would spend on an RT had they not written them down, I think £299 inc vat with a touch cover would be a fair price.

The RT has pretty much relegated the mrs netbook now.

It is for me, which is all I care about. I didnt say 8" is far to small for everyone did I.

You said a blanket "it's too small" no elaboration, so you may's well have done.

I can see Surface 2 flopping just like the first did, from the price if they put it at 400 quid again.

Lol, so talking about hoping a tablet is out, doesn't indicate anything. Ok.
As usual you jumped to a concluison for the sake of argument.

The ASUS T100 is an interesting tablet.

Full windows 8.1 pro, keyboard included in price, quad core, usb 3.0 port apparently you can do 11 hours on the battery too microsoft office also included.

I like it.
