I didn't even realise the choices of karts and tyres etc actually has an impact on anything other than how it looks!

Press the + button on your switch and it'll bring up stats.

Also, it shows whether you have auto steering on... hopefully you have that off? :p

I'm gunna stick with my analogue stick and pipe cart :D

Create a kart combo that sacrifices traction for speed or acceleration and use tilt controls. It gives you a nice advantage.

So does using tilt controls have a disadvantage at all other than having to get used to them? (I wont be using them regardless)
If not, that seems a bit of an unfair advantage if traction really is maxed, unless your overall control is less precise so that counter balances that.

Oh yeah, auto stuff is all off! :D

By the way, how's everyone been playing this in the races so far? Handheld, TV + Pro Controller etc.?

I've just been using it handheld so far (gf's bagged the main TV in the evening) and it's been okay - I have a pro controller but haven't raced against anyone with that yet.

I've been using both methods and they're both fine. Handheld is surprisingly good.

Maybe I'll have to try the Switch on the Hori stand and use the pro controller; if I suddenly become better I can then blame the joycons for my performance so far, if I get worse then it's obviously the pro controller's fault. :D

Portable mode with either the joy cons or pro controller.

I'm also surprised at how comfortable the pro controller is.

No disadvantage.

Welcome to mario kart. Nintendo aren't aiming to make it competitive so balance and fairness isn't really a factor, much like smash bros.

The extra traction is there because the general idea is that kids and beginners who may struggle to turn will most likely be the users of tilt controls.
