Unless you are business which is VAT registered, you are unable to claim VAT back. Its was 599 Euro which included VAT.

I'll be purchasing through a business. Just deciding what to do. EE have peed me off so much.

I noticed on another forum that people who paid with a VISA debit on cyberport were refunded and had to use PayPal instead?

I noticed that. However, I think its a bit silly to use a debit card and the associated risk from ordering abroad, using a credit card you should be fully protected.

I don't have a credit card as I don't like how they are forever raising the credit limit to tempt you into spending what you don't have.

I realise the risk, just wasn't prepared to accept PayPal's ridiculous exchange rate which was about £30 extra (which obviously goes into their pocket).

This is the 3rd time I'm going to say this, but it looks like I was right...

Now imagine what it'll be like trying to get a Lumia 920 sim-free.

£336 with import duty added. Just need to add shipping and the Parcel Force surcharge, I would guesstimate at around £380 all in.

AT&T have branded their contract phones, I wonder if their SIM free ones are too? I wouldn't want ugly etched logos on the front.

Well worth it, but the phone will be locked to the AT&T network and will need a SIM unlock code - Im trying to find the process for this as Im seriously thinking about it

How can companies like Nokia possibly hope to break the iPhone stranglehold when they handle flagship phone releases like this? This handset had everything required to get them back on a strong front footing and this is how they introduce it to the world. Pathetic and ridiculous in equal measure.

I think Nokia still thinks it is the 1990s and you sell phones by keeping the networks happy.

You could understand the EE exclusive if the 920 was everywhere on their site, if it was more prominent but it isn't.

I feel like sending a petition to Nokia and Microsoft/Ballmer, but why on earth should a consumer to tell a businessman how to do their job properly? You would think that they would know how to get their product in the hands of people.

How does the saying go? Long time lurker, first time poster. :D

I've been looking forward to buying this phone for ages (on a 4G network) and got more and more excited as the release date got closer and closer. Well, I say 'date' but that doesn't accurately describe this Nokia launch, does it? It was more of a window, a very large, ever changing in size and location window.

I just want to echo many of the posts here by saying Nokia have really screwed this up. I was hoping to be able to buy a sim-free handset direct from them and can't for the life of me understand why they haven't made that option available for launch. They should be selling this device in as many ways as possible, not locked to one network or retailer. It's going to have put off all but the most die-hard phone users and reduced sales.

I nearly bit the bullet and ordered direct from EE on a 12 month tariff, but wanted to buy from a retailer via a cashback website. I knew P4U were selling and I could get £75. But then they pulled the 12 month tariffs, first implying the never existed, then that EE aren't allowing them to provide them (post on the support forum). Then EE up the prices on the 12 months tariffs to a ridiculous level! Furthermore, if you go to the Nokia website they still list the old 12m EE prices. Or at least they did when I looked last night. It beggars belief.

My local P4U said they'd be getting sim-free possibly at the end of this week and I would prefer to buy in the UK. But the threat of branding and network locks means I have now just ordered from the German Amazon site. It's not in stock, so if anything becomes available in the meantime I'll reassess my position. But at least this way I won't have the added cost of buying out the last 6 months of my O2 contract and porting my number. Hopefully, by the summer 4G will be a better proposition.
