Hopefully WP8.1 blue will add the same app auto update feature as is on Windows 8.1.

Not that I would turn it on anyway as I like to not get screwed by updates of the screwing variety (looking at YouTube).

But it would be good for the majority of users who have no idea about app updates.

Still getting used to my Lumia 925 but certainly enjoying the change from iOS.

One thing that's bugging me is why are the notifications called 'toasts'?

Phablet looking more and more likely, a second leak. It won't be at Russia event but a New York event a month later, which makes much more sense as we need gdr3 to be released for it.
On Tuesday reports surfaced suggesting that Nokia was planning on releasing a 6-inch phablet later this year. Those previous rumors have since been bolstered, as Windows Phone Central published a similar report on Thursday stating not only that Nokia plans on unveiling a 6-inch Lumia handset at an event next month in New York City, but a full list of specs to boot..

According to the Windows Phone Central report, the purported device will feature a 6-inch 1080p display, a quad-core processor, GDR3 support, and a 20MP camera. Those specs mirror the leak that surfaced earlier this week, and the device will even supposedly sport a slight hump for the camera (akin to the Lumia 925), which the earlier leak also noted.

If the rumors surrounding Nokia's 6-inch handset turn out to be true (which seems likely at this point), then it will be the company's first attempt at producing a phablet. The purported handset could help Nokia address the growing demand for larger screen sizes, and would allow the company to directly compete against Samsung's popular Galaxy Note line. Microsoft appears to be in full support of larger screens, as the next update to Windows Phone (GDR3) will reportedly offer support for 1080p displays.

Nokia is expected to reveal its first phablet along with a new Windows RT tablet at two day event, which will be hosted in New York on Sept 26 and Sept 27.

Could I get used tto a 6" phone, those specs are hella tempting. I like the I between camera siz, should be a much smaller hump than the 1020.

I still think they will moan, as its ruining WP and not Android. :D

Edit: Interesting GDR3 may include the notification center, so I have read this morning Linky

Aye, doesn't matter really, though hopefully MS have been smart enough to realise the way things a re moving and they can focus their efforts on making the OS better and not worry about hardware re-works!

Got tired of waiting for EE and flashed mine with the french update.

Everything seems to be working fine so far, just had to change the language and delete the stock apps.

Double tap to wake and the new camera apps are pretty good.

FM Radio works OK also but Bluetooth (which I thought was updated) still doesn't find my heart rate monitor watch which uses 4.0 BTLE:confused:

I guess no apps would support it anyway.

One thing I would kill for would be a battery menu that showed which apps were using all of your battery. I still suffer from the random battery drain, so to know what was causing it would be invaluable to me. Why don't they put that in gdr3

Yeah that would be nice, the data sense UI jus battery. I would also like that the so/hardware isn't restrained by what Nokia decides to put in. I have a 520 and put a ~2200 mah battery in it, it still shows as 1430mah and doesn't seem to last any longer. Not sure if that's so, hardware or what.

Such an app is pointless on WP. When an app is tombstoned, ie not in the foreground, it uses zero resources, not even a timer ticks. The absolute maximum it can use is 25 seconds of processing power ever 30 minutes.

You random drain is a bug, wait till you're on GDR2 to see if that sorts it.

Also .... M$ is working on a Surface 2 and a Surface 7". I really really want a 7" Windows 8 tablet. I've got a 7" android and it's just non stop grief.

I hope that's the case. It would save me some serious time digging through for a rogue app if it's a system issue. For now, I just have to keep a 1% of my brain monitoring the temp of my pocket in case it has decided it would like to get stuck in some sort of loop and rinse my batt in half an hour!

Come on EE, pull the finger out!

Apps are pretty locked down in WP8. They sit in their own little sandbox and can't make any changes outside of the box OR run in the background, except for 25 seconds every 30 mins.

Which is why I'm really looking forward to getting a Nokia tablet or the new Surface 7", because you know it won't suffer from all the malware that Android has that steal all your passwords etc.

Well last night my phone died for no reason, had to do a soft boot to get it switched on again, checked the battery level and it looked like it died from a monumental battery drain, and no today the battery is being knackered out by "something".

This is getting annoying now, that and no doubt, seeing as I bought a simm free phone, ill be last to get any kind of update.
