Well, I can stop waiting for the EE update, as today my phone has totally died. Power button, soft reset and hard reset all result in nothing happening.

Looks like I'm popping into Leicester tomorrow to visit the Nokia repair centre :(

Only thing I can suggest is have it plugged in to a high rate charger (like the one in the box) and leave for a while. Then try holding power and vol down, which is a soft reset. I sometimes find the phone behaves differently on charge when doing this.

Well, heading into Leicester was a bust, the Nokia repair centre there has the worst opening times I have seen in a long time. With the Nokia phone support and live chat only being Mon-Fri 9-5, then it puts me **** out of luck until Monday morning. Brilliant!

I'm sure Nokia will be able to sort my phone once I can get in contact, but their lack of weekend support is unacceptable.

Has anyone had any Bluetooth issues since the update?

Since my phone came back it not pairing or even being seen on my in car hands free headunit.

Getting annoyed at EE here, Lucky i have cancelled my contract and requested my PAC and an phone unlock code, moving to three,
When I do can I move firmware to a sim free one and get updates faster?

No. Updates are tied the phones product code, if its a EE handset they will still be tied to EE firmware. You can flash generic firmware but it will still get updates via EE.

EilotG will be able to confirm 100%.

Depends how it is flashed. If it is flashed properly then the product code would change and it would receive updates as an open market device.

Would this be something I could do with nokia care (unofficially of corse) I understand if you cant comment on this.

Would a nokia care centre be able to do this?

I don't know what tools it is you use, or the process. I couldn't comment on it though.

Nokia Care would certainly be capable (it would be sent to the repair centre). But I'm pretty certain they wouldn't do it.

I got in contact with Nokia Care via their live chat and had some very helpful guidance from the operative I was speaking to. They just did the usual checks to make sure the phone is dead (and not in a robotic, must follow the script manner) and then pointed me to where I can arrange for the phone to be collected for repair.
Just need to package it up ready for collection tomorrow.

Definitely the right choice, the Nokia extras are superb.

Can you not just unlock it for £20 ish?
The 925 thread is dead so hope it is ok to post in here? Got my 925 up and running Brenn47, very nice, it's a bit big as I'm used to my 3.7" Mozart, apps installed, the Nokia apps are very nice to have too. Don't know why the guy sold it as locked to O2, it is sim free so took some scissors to my Virgin sim and I was good to go :-) All up to date with the latest patches etc, screen is stunning and battery life seems very good too, generally very pleased...

EDIT: One thing I miss from my Mozart is a notification light, it was in the earpiece, it flashed for 10 minutes or so if I missed a call/sms/email, anything like this on the Lumias? No LEDs? That glance screen is begging to have that included.....

EDIT2: Apologies, my Mozart only gave green flashing green LED when I missed call. Anyway I've taken a look and it appears there isn't anything like this on the 925, ah well, I'm sure a future update will give us something.

That's good news, bet you're chuffed with that.

You're in luck (when GDR3 gets released), Missed calls, SMS, Emails etc are coming to the Nokia Glance screen!!! I ave a funny feeling the Windows key will also flash, but this is in GDR3.

I have a 925 also, the glance options do ask if I want "Clock and notifications". I changed it to On but any emails don't appear on the glance scree. Would be great if it did. I do like the glance screen.

How good an option is this for buying now seeing as you can get from tesco unlocked for £200 after cashback? Looking for a phone for my dad off contract that if anything like his current one he will keep for 4 years so build quality etc are important. Is it also likely to still be supported in the next year or so or will it be like all the windows 7 phones and dropped like a hot potato as soon as the next big thing comes along?

Thanks guys.

New update came through for Glance, they removed this option. I guess it wasn't doing anything anyway. Maybe released too early.
