**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

I have seen people mention factory resetting, might give it a try. I have also wondered if Apex could be a factor, lots of people seem to use Nova.

I think it helps, also I hated the free Nova, but gambled on the Prime version and glad I did, some many useful customization's and with a custom icon pack it looks ace :)

Hee hee :p

Have many gone from Lollipop back to Kitkat? Seriously tempted as battery life is still a bit of a dog.
I did and don't regret it one bit. LP was just too inconsistent with it's battery life, which isn't at all helpful overall.

Went back to KK, rooted and installed Xposed and the Wanam module to customise some UI elements. I am back to around 6-7hrs screen time after removing a lot of bloat.

Space Monkey - that SoT is absolutely incredible

What Tempered Glass are you lot using? I've used some in the past but they look horrible when fitted

thinking of using normal plastic screen protector, won't be as visible as the glass around the edge of the screen?

Getting really tired of the random hangs, unpredictable app launch times, battery drain and auto brightness not working....oh and keyboard launches

I always buy Samsung devices for bleeding edge hardware but the software issues are never ending. Pretty sure this is the end of my Samsung journey. Have done 3 factory resets since January. Hardware is fine, its software issues throughout....and nova doesn't help as much as it has in the past.

What next...

Factory reset has done zilch. In fact, with less apps installed, the battery life seems worse. Poor show Google and Samsung :(

Has any one tried the stock ROM with all of the crap removed?

Not impressed with the battery life on my Note 4. It came with L on it and there's not been any major updates.

Yesterday my stats were 50% battery drained in 16 hours with only 6 minutes of screen on time. Android System is what's draining it but no idea why. I've removed all my google account, re-booted and re-added them as this certainly would sometimes battery drain on my HTC One.

All the guides to fixing battery life on the Note 4 want custom roms installed or root. I don't wish to do either of these things.

Put it this way, in the same time frame my iPhone 6+ lost only 12% of it's battery with more screen time to boot.

Anyone else lost their animations when opening an app?

I use apex launcher, and it used to slide up from the bottom Lollipop style, but now it just pops up with no animation.

Went back to stock launcher and same thing, no animation when opening an app, it just opens.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Cheers

Check developer options in settings for the animation scale options.

That's crazy.. something very wrong there. Where did you get your note 4 from and which model is it ? Is it network branded too to a specific network ? I'm running a stock phone not rooted and get on a heavy use day close to 6 hours screen on time. Also my screen is always set to max brightness.

I'm also on android L. Make sure you have no rogue apps and have all the apps updated too.

Sadly it's quite a common issue with the Note 4s.

I've had two now, and they both have utterly dire battery life. Over the course of a day I'm lucky to get more than 2 hour of screen on time.

Today I've had the phone of charge for a little under 12 hours, with 1 hour of screen time and a few hours of music playback through headphones. Currently sitting at 30% battery. I had the same withthe first N4 I received, so I exchanged it. Second has exactly the same issue.

I've factory reset the phone many times, and have tried with CM 12.1 as well, always the same issue.

As far as I've been able to work out, it's just down to weak signal. The Note 4 really seems to suffer when it has less than great signal strength, the battery life just disappears!

Edit - Meant to mention, I've seen the issue described elsewhere a lot. No real sign in the battery stats/logs as to what's causing it, other than android system/OS being very high up the usage list. Wakelocks are under control, and there's no rogue processes that people have been able to find. It's annoying as otherwise it's a fantastic phone, just has utterly dire battery life for a lot of us.

Try flashing the french EU rom to those having poor battery, heard it's quite decent.

I'm getting stellar battery like on my UK unbranded handset, 7 hours SoT today with 10% left, I'm averaging this for the past week or so actually.
