**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Just downgraded my Note 3 contract to sim only, don't think I will be upgrading to the Note 4 - other than the higher res screen (how noticeable would this be anyway?) the improvements appear minimal.

Also, I recently sent my Note 3 for repairs with Samsung following the screen cutting out. They fully replaced the screen and the bezel (which was scratched) and it feels like a completely new phone again :D

Camera look's very good, simalar to Galaxy S5 which is already very good but with improved lens which captures 60% more light and OIS.

That's probably the only difference you would notice, performance won't be much different compared to the Note 3, but the Exynos version might be worthwhile with new ARM CPU/GPU architecture and 64 bit support which may be useful at some point.

Resolution should help a little on a 5.7" display but it will be unnoticable to most users.

Metal trim? :D

I'm in the same boat - really cant see any pressing reason to upgrade other than the camera improvements (which I admit do seem pretty thorough).
May do it once it drops to around £400 sim free but definitely not rushing out to get one - note 3 is still a damn good phone.

Is the 30mins to 50% battery charging ability not a big bonus as well? I mean if I forget to charge the night before and am in a pinch in the daytime I know I can get juice to the phone fairly quickly rather than do what I do now and carry a 2nd battery for work purposes :p

I think I'd be in for one if they hit £450 SIM free, but judging by the prices of the Note 3 still, it'll be a very long time :(

The price will drop a month or so after release.
Remember the note 3 dropped to under £500 fast. This should hit £450 around December if you can wait that long.

As long as it's under £530 I will be fine as that's what I paid for the Note 3 so don't want to pay more than that.

Sounds daft but I actually dont care about the whole "note" side of things I just like the spec ( screen, ram, processor, battery ) etc.. can it be rooted and put to just plain Android etc

Or will the pen grow on me? Im moving over from an Iphone 5s so have £370 already from that to put towards this.. Or is there a similar spec phone coming out soon?

Use the stylus more for note taking and snippets etc. I do it often and it's really useful. I can see myself using the NOte 4 stylus more thanks to the additional pressure sensitivity for annotations and suchlike.

Beats carrying a pen and pad around for notes. That and the new OCR stuff will be great for work use.

I get that totally, but im not a person who takes notes.. My phone is used for videos, games, facebook.. movies mainly and browsing :) I rarely take notes, and if I sent something to someone I tend to just send a full screenshot :) .. hopefully will grow on me guess its a free bonus. :P

Ah in that case just snap photos of people and draw moustaches on them, maybe give them some bling bling :D

I would post a few examples here but those folks are also members and probably wouldn't take to kindly to that :D

Yeah I guess snapchat will be more fun.. and if that game Drawsomething was still popular id own. haha Is it accurate'ish the pen?.. I remember writing on Ipad ages and ages ago and it was a bit pants :P

Note 3 spen didnt feel solid just very flimsy to me. I wanted to snap it in half.

But you can use it for other things too like browsing, selecting stuff. its good for games.
If you watch the cringy presentation they show you everything. it works like a mouse now, click and drag style.

It also has double sensitivity compared to note 3 so it should be like writing on paper. very accurate.

Very interested in this, I like the idea of the Edge but the issue I have is custom ROMs and how they will take on the side screen. Some of the features for it look pretty cool, the clock is just brilliant. But I can't help think I'd turn to the Note just because of the battery. Hopefully there isn't too much difference in the prices but I'll be waiting until they hit reasonable costs.

I'll probably change my note 3 for a note 4 when my contract is up for renewal in November. I'm sure to break the side screen on the edge so not that one, I broke the note 3 inside two months, first time I've ever broke a screen. It's also the first Samsung phone I've had :-)

One thing that I really dislike about Samsung launches (and something that Apple actually do really well), is the lack of details about price/date!

They've announced the phone, given us all the details, except for when we can actually buy the thing, and how much it should cost.

Grrrr.

That's because Apple dictate the price and date and carriers have little choice but to go with it. With all other phone makers this is not the case.

Yeah that's true, still, some idea of an RRP would be nice.

I'd settle for just a rough release date, surely that must be doable?
