**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

I got mine sim free from Giff Gaff for £600. It was in stock for at at least a few days but it's out of stock now, but those looking for a sim free one might want to keep an eye on Giff Gaff's site to see if they come back in stock.

Just had another quick go on my colleague's Note 4. Boy is it a lush phone. Everything about it just oozes quality and it's smooth as hell too.

Great phone and deserves the title of being Samsung's best phone.

It is impressive isn't it. Samsung implemented the metal band tastefully. All round solid phone.

Look forward to seeing the S6.

Just noticed that the bottom of my screen seems a lot cleaner (whiter) than the top part, especially on a full white screen like Google's search page, not sure if all SAMOLED's will be like this or its just my handset?

Also I only had 1 edge that had protective sticky tape, online vids show all sides should have it and the camera tape looks like it's been lifted and reapplied?

Starting to think that the broken security seal on the outer box wasn't an accident? Huff! :(

Just to comment on this. I have tried every single NOTE 4 in every mobile shop in two separate towns over the past week or two (probably about 10 devices in total - trying to decide if it is too big) and every single one of them did not have a perfectly uniform screen. Some had lighter lefts to rights, some had more of a pink tint to some areas etc. But not one was perfect.

I also have taken delivery of an S5 Prime from Korea (just couldn't live with the size of this but wanted the specs) and that too does not have a perfectly uniform screen (ever so slightly more pink at the top and bottom.

I also sent back all three Z3 compacts i had from Amazon for this same reason (amongst others though)

I have therefore come to the conclusion that it is extremely rare to get a perfectly uniform screen and that it might not be possible at all despite what people say. I think some just simply aren't sensitive to the change in the shade of white. My dad simply cannot see what i am talking about and even my gf struggles (have to really point it out).

Lol, I know how your last point feels, sometimes I think I'm going mad as its not obvious to others! Thankfully I must say that the replacement I've received is a million times better and at a point where even I now don't notice it, so glad I didn't have to go through more than 1 exchange :)

Samsung is doing a really bad job of delivering it's phone's on time I was one of the first ones so I was lucky.

That said same goes for the accessories I can't find anything I can buy including the Samsung shop I have been on 2 separate occasions and not even 1 x view cover was in stock

I know. People just look at me as if im odd and seeing things but i know my own eyes and i know they are good.

My S5 Prime has slight pink/red tint to top and bottom which is annoying but i cant really send it back to korea for that. I bet most people would never notice it. The fact that every Note 4 i saw had some issue has helped me come to terms with the fact that the perfect screen doesn't exist or at least is very hard to find!

To be honest it is probbaly good i bought it from somewhere where i cant just keep going through them as i think you have to be extremely lucky to get a phone (or any screen to be honest) these days that is able to display white in a totally uniform fashion.

if there is one thing that i would like smart phone and screen makers in the future to address it is this. Screw 4k, just give me a totally uniform hue!

On the plus side, this amoled QHD screen is absolutely gorgeous. One of the screensavers that looks like lots of colourful paint spills almost looks like 3d or looks like there is actually running ink spilt on the screen.

The 805 is well snappy as well. Copes with the res and everything sublimely.

Also, my MicroSD card wont write, only read. I seem to remember having this on the Note 3, but with root I could fix. Anyone else got this?

REALLY want to get one but the tales of colour shifting when you tilt the phone even slightly are putting me off. It's one of my main annoyances with phones. Is it as bad as every says it is?

I really don't notice anything wrong personally, just enjoying my phone lol

What's the best way to test this? White screen then just look at it from angles?

Maybe I'm just easily pleased but I've not once seen or had issues with the screens on phones in the same way some previous posters have explained. I think some people go way OTT and do tests on their phones that never come into play in real world usage.

Who stares at a plain white screen? I prefer the vibrant use of colour and therefor I have nice pretty backgrounds and icons to match.

Saying that maybe I've just been lucky. The screen on my Note 4 is the best I've seen on a device. The screen on my s3 was great too albeit lower resolution.

Its OK, you are seemingly normal :p. Most other people look at me as if I'm weird when i point out the defects to them.

I guess my eyes are just extremely sensitive to any slight change in colour temperature, and then i just fixate on it and can't unsee it.

Most things i buy with a screen i end up sending back. Went through 3x Galaxy S4's until i gave up (red tints). Went through two Xperia Z2's (digitiser grid visible). Sent back a Surface Pro (yellow tint/blotch on screen) and just sent back 3 x Z3 Compacts.

I guess i just expect too much. When a screen is displaying white, i expect it to display white across the whole screen at the same hue/temperature or whatever but there is obviously a limitation with current screen tech. Even my Panasonic TV has slightly different levels of brightness on either side, and has a dark corner. My gf tells me i am mad and cant see anything wrong with it....:p

Other than the slight tinting though, yes the amoled QHD screen is amazing. Everything really pops out at you.
