**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Well, took the plunge and flashed the N910FXXU1ANK4 firmware the other day via ODIN and all is good. Still showing as 'Official' and seems to be quicker.

Also took the chance of doing that to switch to ART too. Not sure if this is making a difference....noticed that afger re-boot it optimised apps for all there and then decided to do another re-boot. This then optimised 67 apps which I thought, 'OK' too. Odd thing is another reboot and it optimised the same 67 apps again.

I haven't done a factory reset on this. Only other issue I have noticed was that the alarms from prior to flashing/changing did not work (nearly overslept this morning) but a new alarm worked fine. Have deleted all the ones I had and put in new.

Battery life looking good too....Currently 1 day 3 hrs on battery and at 60%. Not as great as others in here, but I work in a Faraday Cage enclosed building and have zero mobile signal, but can access wifi internally, so do not go into Airplane mode, so the radio is using a fair bit looking for a signal. Am due on a nice chunk of leave soon so can see how it fairs when in a mobile covered area.

I take it that as I have flashed the firmware above and removed the O2 branding, that I should get updates as and when they are pushed out rather than waiting for ever for O2 to push them?

Turn airplane mode on then turn on wifi - that way the only "radio" thats active is wifi - should help your battery life even more.

Have macrodroid installed so will look at seeing if I can get a macro running so that when I get into work and it connects to the wifi it turns on airplane then re-enables wifi...and converse for when I leave or I will forget

Got my phone back and all is well except for installing official updates on it.

I got greeted with a 120+mb update and downloaded it and tried to apply the update and got an error with no actual details on why it failed.

After it fails to update the firmware, the phone reboots fine and i get a message saying the phone failed to update and for me to either send a report to samsung??

Any reason why this is happening?

Tried on both my work and home wifi in downloading the update and still same problem?

Oh well mines updating automatically today. 137mb update

Failed to install the first time.. came up with error.

Did it again with Kies though and it worked fine this time.

I wouldn't bother with ART right now its not working properly on the note 4 at the moment. Youll have to wait till android 5.0 for that.

Does anyone have the US T-mobile N910T version of this phone in the UK?
It is cheaper to buy than the UK spec...any thought what will not work? I guess 4G bands will be different but I'm with O2 now and they are the worst for 4g anyways.

Loving my note 4, i got other day, taking time to get my head around it all coming from my old iphone 4.
Got a screen protector, went with the Spigen Steinheil LCD film Ultra Crystal for Galaxy Note 4 and a case, Spigen Galaxy Note 4 Case Ultra Hybrid Crystal clear shows off the white case of the note 4, the screen protector was a right bitch to put on, anway made good job of it.
Oh and i dropped in a Samsung Memory 64GB Pro MicroSDHC UHS-I Grade 1 Class 10 Memory Card, all working fine.
The fast charging is great :) after coming from the iphone :(

Okay, so still looking at a new phone.

Note 3: About 250-270
Note 4: Friggin expensive.

Being honest, should I just get a Note 3 and be happy with it? Iphone 5s user here so not sure if the slight upgrades are even worth double the price.

You've got everything to be happy about with the Note 3, it's a brilliant phone, it's powerful, has decent battery life and Lollipop is officially out very very soon. At that price I cannot think of a better smarttphone and by the time you tire of it the then options will be 2-3 generations ahead of it and you'll see a worthwhile upgrade.
