My point is having a 4K screen which taxes all resources just to have VR on a phone is not a good a idea in terms of battery stamina. And anything properly graphics intensive just won't happen on 4K with a phone GPU.

I understand this is just my view and others will want to have a 4K screen just for VR.

Yes. Me :)

Maybe it's because I don't game, but I don't believe I've seen throttling.

Also, it's not like they're just making the screen bigger. The S7 Edge has crazy performance increases, so I would assume the Note 6 would have similar or even better.

In all seriousness, I'm not that bothered by the slight pixalation in Gear VR. I wouldn't be bothered if the Note 6 had the same PPI as the Note 5.

For me I'd want VR for gaming so that where I was coming from.

I'd rather have a dedicated headset with a strong phone SoC and active cooling running on android with 4K. Plus with OLED being Pentile, its not helping it's case. A 4K RGB screen would make sense.

Samsung's Good Lock app now official:

With Good Lock users can not only customize the on-screen look of their smartphone but can also alter the way they use the lock screen and notifications. Good Lock allows for faster access to the most frequently used applications and settings while widgets can be placed on the lock screen to quickly get the information of choice without having to unlock the screen

What screen protectors are you using on the Note 5 ? I'm after one that covers the screen and isn't a few mm short round the edges like a lot seem to be based on the amazon reviews.

To save me reading through the whole thread, what things should i disable on the Note 5 and what things should i enable, just any tips really of the things to do from the start.

It's running Android 6.0.1, i presume that's Marshmallow ? Those big desktop icons will take some getting used too lol, it's just they were a lot smaller on my Note 4 running Lollipop.

Basically disable anything you won't use.

Run Nova launcher to get mega customisation of your desktop/drawer/icon size etc

Yes 6.0.x is MM.

I've only recently changed to a Note 5 from a Note 4, the only real concern i had before hand was the battery on the Note 5 being 3000mah compared to the Note 4 which is 4000mah.

I can't say that i've noticed any real difference in battery life between the 2 which surprised me a little given that the Note 4 had a bigger capacity battery, my usage has been very similar. I wouldn't say that i was a heavy user, just mainly calls, emails, web browsing and occasionally navigation etc. I can get 2 days out of the Note 5, probably drops to a day and a half if i watch a couple of short videos.

Has anyone else experienced similar that has come from a Note 4 to a Note 5, it's possible that Marshmallow is less draining on the battery but i'm no expert.

Aftermarket battery in the note 4? Which brand?

I can't remember which battery i had in it now as i've sold the Note 4, it could have been a Mugen or Anker, possibly slightly less than 4000mah, maybe around 3750mah.

The Note 5 seems to be just as good with the 3000mah battery, i think the stock Note 4 one was around 3250mah and it's better than that one as well so far. Is Marshmallow less power hungry ?
