****The Official Note III Thread****

Is the gmail app (when used with a gmail email account) an instant push account? If not what do I need to have push email (got gmail and live.co.uk accounts)

(Live account in standard Samsung app is fetch every 5 minutes)

Thanks :)

Ditch the Samsung Email app and add your live account within Gmail on the web.
Then in the Gmail app you will see the live account as a label which you can enable sync for.

This way you're not using battery by having a client check every 5 mind since Gmail is push and it's doing the checking for you server side. You can even set a ringtone just for the live account to same way you can with other labels.

Will I still be able to access sub folders on my live acct if its within gmail?

:)

Hmm that I don't know but you can add it and find out!

Finally added my live.co.uk account to my gmail account as you said online, and it only does the inbox, no subfolders :(

(is my live email now push as its set as a label? and do we know how often GMail polls the live account, as that could be delay still?)

Quick question, is there a really decent looking (and working) SMS app that is better than the default Samsung one? The text looks huge and the colours are gash (also want the app to be safe, no spyware etc..)

Thanks for your help mrk :)

SMS first, in settings you can choose the theme so change the bubble colours etc. Also enable volume buttons to adjust text size so when you view a text press volume buttons to make the fonts smaller - Makes things much nicer.

As for the email, Essentially it becomes a pop account yeah. Emails should push through with moments of arriving there. They do for me anyway!

Thanks again mrk, appreciate it :)

(It seems the font on the sms was at its smallest but still seems very big?) I can enlarge them further but can't go smaller, is that right?

Updated to mj3 last night through odin as was on 3 branded firmware. Has anyone found that when the get a text message now it just comes up as new message in the notification bar and can't be expanded when the notification bar is slid down?
If no one else has this, any idea why this has happened to mine? Any way of having it How it was?

Go into Messaging > Settings > More

Tick the "Preview Message" box and it should be okay again :P

My phone said earlier that I had 1.67MB free whilst installing an app, think this is a false message since the N3 uses /emulated/ system paths so some apps might get this confused because:

Plenty of storage left...

Holy cow, picked one up today while i was in town, in the black colour, coming from a none 4g S3 this thing is a bloody beast and a half, now time to read up on it, as to be honest before seeing it in the shop i hadnt even looked at it online, but it felt just right at least on the demo one.

Is it worth upgrading from an S4 to one of these?

I moved from an iphone4 to the S4 and loved the increase in screen size. I'm wondering whether going even bigger would be a good move. Or is this just too big.
