** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Wonder what 2017 will bring, shrink (10nm) or refresh (GM200/GK110)?

Pascal pretty underwhelming so far, especially given the shrink + "new" arch. Maybe they need more time to get it right and will bring out a refresh to cover the next year or so. Or just cut their losses and get on to Volta finally which is what they have been working towards the past decade.

To be fair, GP104 seems like a fairly minor revision from Maxwell for gaming.

From the P100 it looks like Pascal was mostly aimed at being a double-precision monster. According to the specs P100 is over 2.5x the performance per watt of Kepler in FP64 (and of course Kepler was much more powerful than Maxwell in FP64).

Found another GTX 1080 2K benchmark with Batman Arkham Knight.

I don't know if it fake or real just like the other video with 4 games, everybody screamed FAKE at GTX 1080 cooler leaked back in March so it turned out real at launch.

here is another one at 4k :D

ofc they are fake, and reviews are about 1 week away, so no need to give these ppl more views :D

Batman one looks like it could possibly be real but the 4k one looks fake. 1080 side is higher than any 980ti would get at 1440p, but one side could be at different res or lower settings. If people are taking the time to fake these then that is very sad.

Undoubtedly the the big Pascal behemoth that Kaap and many others are waiting for on the same process node as the 1080. If we are really lucky the next Titan will come this year Q3/4, but I would be very surprised. If this happened the Ti variant would likely come not too long after the Titan.

There has been a fairly large waiting gap between the small chip flagship x80 cards and the enthusiast Titan cards for a few generations now. This allows maximum profitability on a lower power and cheaper to make flagship card like the 680, 980, 1080. Will bite on the 1080 as even though the 1080 is not a huge jump on the 980Ti, I can do with all the extra performance I can get after going from 1080p to 1440p.

We know it has hardware async that's not in dispute even Maxwell did but it's scheduler is not hardware based nvidea white paper on Pascal even says so that's what we're talking about.

And for the 1 millionth time, even Maxwell does async compute in hardware. Only the scheduler is driver based.

Calm down sunshine It's Only a Graphics Card ;)

If Pascal does indeed have hardware Async then why are we not seeing the gains between DX11 and DX12 in the AOTS benches? (This is a genuine question BTW). Is it because the GCN arch just does it in a more efficient manner?

EDIT - Ah, so the GCN sheduler is hardware based then! Yes?...I think I got it now if that is the case.:)

16:9 now feels antique...

I have 2 Dell U2715H in my studio (just bought them ) and they are great for work...

Gaming 16:9 is naff

The X34 predator is expensive but if you get a good one its an amazing monitor.

I'll probably break and get a 1080 and hopefully it will make the minimums less noticeable...

But from a 980ti it will be all placebo :p

That's your opinion ER, no need to state it as fact ;)

I have both the X34 and the XB321HK and I'm back on the XB I think for good. Been switching between the 2 for about 2 months and they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I think overall I prefer a large 4k Gsync'd panel, it's pretty damn awesome

edit - Only problem now is that 4k eats a 980Ti for breakfast

Many find 16:9 far better for gaming then superwide. Been trying to find a good replacement monitor for my 6 year old one but there just isn't anything worth while to upgrade from (Dell U2711). I don't like curved screens as they are rubbish due to distorting the image and ruin the game look. Superwide has less height to the screen then 16:9 and often has UI problems. Personally I find the X34 predator a rubbish gaming monitor. I would rather have my 6 year old screen then that thing and it wouldn't surprise me to find out curved screens are a fad that fades away over the years. There are no real advantage to curved screens, only disadvantage like worse viewing angles to distortion. EDIT: Superwide I can see a use for in work its just I don't like the loss in screen height. Superwide have a lot less height to them.

Well some of the lack of gains is due in part ot Nvid'as drivers being very good at dx11 overhead wise. less you have less of a gain Async will give.
Not saying thats all of it thou

gotta say i'm a little gutted. Bought the 980ti for VR in advance of receiving the Oculus and then the Oculus got delayed (still havent received it). Now Nvidia are brining out a new card that will handle VR better. I wish I had waited :(((

50% faster than 980Ti? Great news if true but that seems like an unrealistic jump

That one is more plausible than the other vids.

33% faster seems to be in line with what we have been told so far and is around what I am expecting.
