** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Possibly, although I think we should wait until we get reviews of custom boards with better coolers and the extra power connector before judging the overclocking ability of the 1000 series.

On the plus side the 1070 series should start at ~£300+ which will be quite nice for ~980ti performance.

Yea with extra power/cooling there might be some more in the tank.

jono is always optimistic with his prices so im saying 350+ ^^;

They probably will be that on launch but once prices settle they should be in line with the regular MSRP.

I wont be paying for all this pre-order/founders edition crap.

Should be £370 for the founders and AIB modded cards. £310 for AIB vanilla reference cards.

Sorry but what FUD. Have a read here.

Get yourself a bit clued up and then we can chat. I do consider the 1080 to be overpriced as well but not for the reasons you state, but because it is a smaller chip and there will be the bigger chips to come.

Reading? I have been interested in this topic for over two years now. I don't need to read assumed literature based on Nvidias lack of information and decision to only state 'Pascal has ASYNC' which it technically does not.

The article you show does not, as I already knew before reading it, prove in any way shape or form that Pascal ASync is real.

The only evidence so far, if you are able to read between the lines, is that benchmarks of AOTS and Hitman confirm there is no ASYNC compute for Pascal.

Don't tell me if Nvidia had fully working async hardware that they would have had OXIDE (or their drivers) flip the on switch for Pascal Async.
Nvidia would stand to retain far too many customers if they had 'proof' there had a strong ASYNC implementation as it is they are guaranteed to lose consumers who want the best DX12 hardware.

Remember as well, Pascal is a shrunk Maxwell which was Async'less too.
Come on, this is Nvidia, who do everything they can to stay on top but were unable to flip a switch on AOTS to turn ASYNC ON.
Yeah right, whatever.
The higher you build Pascal Async the further it will come crashing back down.

I know that 1080 is Async software only but it has so much grunt it can get away with it but Im sure I read in one review that even in DX12 Async games the 1080 is still miles ahead of the Furyx.

Do you expect this to change and AMD to get quicker and quicker in DX12 games with Polaris when its tabled as a cheap low/middle card?

When the 1080 outstrips the FuryX by so much in a DX12 Aysnc game, you honestly think Polaris is going to give 80-90% of the performance of the 1080? This would make it quicker than a Furyx.

If so i might just wait until Polaris is out, being a Yorkshireman I like to get value for money :)

It will be very impressive if AMD can bring out a £250 card with is quicker than their previous top end card and a real shame that AMD seems to be dropping high end cardxs from the range as they could have smashed the 1080 family.

AM|D hasnt pulled this trick off since the 4850 though.

I don't need to spend what is waaaay to much cash on a GPU which is DX12 limited.

Thing is if AMD dont bring out a £250-£300 card which is faster than 980ti/1080 then I may as well not upgrade from my 290x.

I agree, I got some bonus money coming in and i am thinking about purchasing a new card. But i got A 290X that OC very well. 1180 Core. So it runs most games fine on a 1440p monitor.

So i am in the waiting camp. (Probably blow m money on some other gadget tho! :-) )

He's right, when you look at the technical information detailing how AMD do it (http://www.anandtech.com/show/9124/amd-dives-deep-on-asynchronous-shading for instance, and there are some interesting tit-bits in here too that's about the PS4 implementation) what Nvidia appears to have done with Pascal is a useful improvement but no where near real asyncronous compute.
