Thing is no one knows what is behind the corner as it takes years. We need days/weeks to sink everything in and then for the negotiations start bearing in mind that EU will need UK as well not like only we need stuff from EU.

so what exactly is this "stuff" that the EU need from us that they will be willing to effectively destroy what they spent 40 years building ? The price will be too high and whilst the logical thinkers will believe that the EC will take one for the team , the truth is that they will rather hand out the punitive punishments and then tighten their belts to make sure that they can keep the EU together.

We can continue to kid ourselves that we will still get all the benefits of things like free trade without the difficult things like free movement, but it simply will not pan out that way. The EU block will remain defiant. There are many countries that benefit greatly from the EU through grants etc and those governments are not going to preside over seeing the EU get smashed up because the UK decided to leave the party.

I remember when 1gbp = 2usd. Then it very quickly went down to 1.42ish. I'm sure it'll come back up again soon enough (here's hoping)

People seriously trust the SNP after their lies last time? Scotland has no chance on its own.

It could have, if its sole export was Stornoway black pudding. Heck, I could probably keep its economy afloat on my own.

Your concept of recovery is clearly very different to mine!

The value of the pound has taken a complete nosedive.

Go back more than a day and it's not that different, it was higher on the belief that Remain would win, the rate was about the same in Feb/March.

I think the concern is justified - at least two years of market uncertainty, equates to two years of banks being overly risk adverse, reluctant to invest and all that comes with it. To think this isn't a big deal, or "merely temporary", would mean you have little practical experience in dealing with how these institutions work.

*big thumbs up*

No one is predicting this will be happening in the immediate future. This is a consequence of leave unfortunately. Lower revenues, lower tax receipts, weaker pound, higher borrowing costs, etc. I imagine this will all lead to more austerity until we've officially left the EU in a couple of years time. And then who knows what...

FTSE 100 6,224.44 -113.66 (-1.79%)

Heading for a flat finish, BBC still using words like "plunge" and "billions wiped out"

Why not just start being honest, pedalling nonsense hasn't worked out too well recently

I think it is people like you who are clueless what this means.

Every economic forecast saying this is bad. It is like a cardiovascular surgeon tells you smoking is bad for you and you do it anyway. Then you run the risk of cancer or a life of looking cool like Steve McQueen.

What's more likely to happen? Getting cancer or looking like the cooler King?

Where were all the experts in 2008?

Over reacting. Germany should be worried about turkey letting the gimmigrents go back.

I'm hoping that the truck drivers start using large chains to seal up their wagons.

Oh and don't forget that Cameron was letting over 100 come in a day from the jungle.

right so rather than relying on French authorities we are now relying on truck drivers and the tensile strength of the chains they put on their trucks !! sweet jesus if you are typical of the leave vote this country is going to be in a dark place for a very very long time
