It's like asking people to vote on whether to make the Large Hadron Collider go clockwise or anticlockwise and having no-one do the research before answering the question (it goes both directions). Finally when everyone has voted anticlockwise, they're all wondering who's going to operate the damn thing because none of the scientists have been asked what the correct decision is and they've all walked...

I think this is very apt. From a commented on the FT:

The younger generation has lost the right to live and work in 27 other countries. We will never know the full extent of lost opportunities, friendships, marriages and experiences we will be denied. Freedom of movement was taken away by our parents, uncles and grandparents in a parting blow to a generation that was already drowning in the debts of its predecessors.

Thanks guys!

Edit: to clarify, less about the latter part of the comment, more about the former. Quite possibly losing the right to work in 27 countries because of this decision is a huge loss for anyone remotely non insular. A sad day indeed.

I've signed the petition in a bid to stop this wave of stupidity that seems to be sweeping the country and I hope the decision is reversed.

Although those words appear to be English, they are arranged in such a way that they are incomprehensible.

What has old people campaigning for REMAIN and no young campaigners to be seen got to do with the Star?

my words appear to be English? :)

The point is, blaming the older voter for the exit.

I was a leave voter throughout the whole thing, kind of wish we could just stay in the union to be honest as it wasn't a huge majority vote. Too bad Brussels cocked up the negotiation for us by not voting on what we'd get until afterwards and offering little in the process as well.

Would have been nice if the EU listened and saw the need for reform before these problems occurred too. Long days ahead for the EU and for us but I'd actually be okay with them just ignoring the vote based on the low difference overall and I was a leave voter.

The remain lot still moaning! and as for living anywhere in Europe get a thing called a VISA. You write your details on it. Done.

We created our own mess and now it's time to work it out. Calling for a new vote just defeats the entire purpose of a vote. People aren't happy this didn't go their way. If we are going to re-vote every time we didn't like a decision, it makes the entire vote pointless in the first place.

If you get an education or have marketable skills and a job to go to you'll still be able to live and work in any of those 27 countries.

It really is time for remain to give up project fear. Come join us Leavers who are now working toward project hope instead.

As an aside I'm young, I voted leave, I know a huge number of young people who also voted leave, many of them with degrees. Please stop trying to paint this as a generation thing, no one has any way of truly knowing how certain demographics voted other than polls and we've all seen how well they work.

The country was asked to vote, the country did vote and you lost that vote! Why should the democratic will of the people be reversed just because you lot can't handle the fact that you lost?

Apparently you still don't understand how the EU passport system worked, and why it was so much better than having to apply for dozens of different visa types whenever you needed to visit different countries for different purposes.

The petition is a nonsense

You cannot force people to turn out to vote. So you implement those numbers and run another one. Result is 90/10 for leave but only 74% turnout. You just ignore that?

You can't just change the rules and pull numbers out the sky to make it fit.

Leave should just do one for an over 50% result and 71% turnout. In the long run there are 1.7 million more people who would sign that petition. Or ya know just have a vote :D

They do it because they don't understand or because they hate democracy. We didn't vote the right way, their way, so they want to try and force it.

"you lost"

Are you genuinely that much of a plum?

The whole ****ing country lost! Doesn't matter who voted which way, everyone lost.

Nothing positive has or will come of this. All promises have been backtracked on, we are going to be worse off than if we stayed because of our lower economic growth, we are going to lose all benefits of Europe, the NHS will still go up the swanny (probably faster than before), and immigration wont change.
