Cameron also said he would issue notice 50 immediately and not step down. neither of those have happened.

yet they will keep this particular promise as it would cause riots and far more political unrest and fallout compared to his spineless standing down.

The remain people might be annoyed at the result but if they were to ignore it or call a second referendum then a lot of people would march on downing street and oust them.

There was a far higher turnout to this referendum than previous elections and with the amount of hatred towards politicians as it is, there would be violence.

So Cameron is being demonised for leaving his post in a controlled fashion because he said he wouldn't step down and also said he'd immediately step down?

He's the wrong person to deliver brexit because he doesn't believe in it. Only problem is there isn't anyone to replace him that does.

I agree, but people are still saying Cameron said this and that and expect it to happen. when he's already gone back on basically everything he said.

Didn't Nigel Farage say himself a second referendum would be required if the results were close. 48-52 was the figure I remember.

Pretty sure live on air on voting day he said the same when he thought leave were losing around 12am.

LOL :D

I haven't heard him calling for another referendum now he won 52-48....I guess he has and I just missed it ;)

Isn't the Brexit negotiating team going to be a cross-party panel? Should be plenty of bods to fill seats.

I can understand Cameron's position - why do all the hard work for something you don't believe in, just to hand it over to the new PM who will take all the credit.

Funny thing is, if he hadn't threatened people with WWIII, Plagues of locusts, threats from Obama and the like, remain probably would have clinched it off the back of a positive campaign.

All this scaremongering will just push the govt to go article 50 sooner rather than later.

Calmer heads need to prevail.

That petition is meaningless.

What people are forgetting is that to vote remain was to vote for further unification, further EU involvement in our country, you were not voting for things to stay as they were. Why anyone would vote away their countries sovereignty bewilders me.

The die is now cast so lets all regroup and move on with making sure our new path is a success. I have every confidence in the UK continuing to be prosperous, in fact becoming more prosperous, without EU interference.

But that's completely untrue. We already had the ability to govern ourselves, and nobody had the power to dictate to us. The EU cannot create legislation unless it's passed by the representatives of its member states—including the UK.

If you want to complain about EU legislation, blame British MEPs... like Daniel Hannam.

That isn't and wasn't good enough for most of us, we don't want to have laws put in place even when the majority of our MEPs voted against them. That isn't our idea of how Democracy should work and we don't believe in joining a United States of Europe. Accept that.

Scotland will need to go it alone now. It's the only way they can finally gain independence from the UK and end the English occupation.

LOL

They won't be going alone, if they vote to leave the UK then they're voting to be ruled from Brussels instead of London. If that's what they want, that's fine by me. I'm equally happy for them to stay part of the UK

We won fair and square

As per my previous;

I thought we had established that the concept of "won" in this context is moot, if it turns out great then even remain win, if not we all get screwed. No one even knows what the rules are yet, never mind who's won.

legally binding

Not so, it was advisory and not legally binding.

I don't know about France , but 20% of all German car production comes to the UK , I suspect a lot of French car production does too.

Who knows? There's no plan or strategy to review to understand even options on how it will be approached.

I agree that there'll be plenty of people willing to work on it and pick up a fat pay packet to do so. Whether they're capable of delivering the requirements of the populace is a different question.

Legally they are able to apply an emergency brake on it.

You speak of the 'brake' again, demonstrate its use by a large economy.
How would it work in practice with the British civil service administering it?
How much would it cost us to administer?

The EU payment at 50% per head, is roughly the same under EEA as what we currently pay with the rebate, and the farm payments....

What do you think the EEA means for you? In advantage terms?
It gives nothing to those who voted 'leave' in real terms.
