If that was the reason you voted out of the EU then that's just pathetic and probably worse than the morons who voted on one of the lied about issues, at least their excuse is their stupidity

Yes it would be a stupid idea as voting gives the current government more power.

But it's just as ignorant to suggest that the "morons" based their decision on a few characterful politicians beliefs or statements.

Oh I am abundantly aware of exactly what happened. It was just a generalised statement made in response to him.

Yeah sure something happened blah blah in London in 2008, but this isn't some sort of game where people can now say HA SUCK IT LONDON.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood your post.

I also agree with others on here that the leave voters or a large portion of them where to topple Cameron and his Stooge George, who have lied and ****ed over the working\poor class of this country. There was only so much **** they will take, as witnessed.

I did.

It's a shame that you did so in such a manner that is likely to prove even more costly to the UK and open up the leadership of the conservative party for even worse politicians.

I never thought I'd say this, but Cameron and Osborne are probably not the worst of the conservative party, just the most visible.

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."

Winston Churchill

Think it's quite a fitting quote in this situation.

Didn't he also say "Democracy is the worst type of government, apart from all the others." If the result of this referendum is overturned then we will be turning out backs on democracy.

Well played by Sturgeon. She has to act fast before England drags Scotland down into a sewer of debt and economic chaos. This could be the best chance of freedom for the Scots.

Thanks for the demographic piece. Until that I only saw the poll taken by ~1600 people that showed ages against how they voted. Was hardly a decent sample.

Still I would like to know what you base your 'sewer of debt and economic chaos' on?

As for Scotland having a referendum and leaving the UK? Can;t see it happening. They have proved twice they don't like change. Ok the Brexit is change forced on them, but are they then going to vote for yet more change and leave the UK? I can't see it. Maybe I'm wrong. Also what do Scotland have to play with at the EU table?

My thoughts are that we will not leave the EU. Over the coming couple years more countries will have referendums and it will force the EU to sit down with countries and listen to them. The EU will probably be a different beast entirely in the near future. Something I am all for.

It just needed a monumental catalyst to get the ball rolling.

I voted out but leaving the EU was a 'shame'. As a trade bloc it was a magnificent thing. It evolved into the monstrosity it is now. Probably due to fear it was losing it's place on the world stage with China, Brazil, India all up and coming. I feared a remain vote would eventually lead to deeper integration. Not something that was attractive given the state of things in Southern Europe and this discontent everywhere.

Going to be an interesting few years.

Must be reading this thread.

No they would not. They also have a joint claim on all assets. It isn't owned by England.

In the same way they have a joint liability for UK debt.

No its owned by the united kingdom. They wish to leave the united kingdom, and steal the silver while they are at it? The assets have a value, yes scotland has paid into the club but they are heavily subsidsed by the rest of the UK. There WILL be a bill.

I did.

Well done you'll now have a conservative government who is even more right wing and screw the working class left right centre.

My relatives who voted no were ironically those living in council houses and on benefits. ..

I agree, it was a shame to leave. EU was just not working and it was slowly falling apart long before we left. It could have been so much more than it was, but it's more like empire building than trying to bring everyone together.

The big advantage to being out is we can make free trade deals with non-EU countries as we like. Previously we were not allowed, it ALL had to go through the EU and it made it more expensive. The UK based business trading with e.g. China will be a lot better off.

Clearly

We shall just keep holding the referendum until people stop crying? I bet it will hold plenty of sway when the remain voters get the result they want

Farage himself wanted another vote unless it went at least 10 points in one direction. Funnily enough he's not calling for one now that his side won.

But that's alright I guess?

I think you should write divorce law. Would go down well.

The exact terms of how assets and liabilities are distributed are negotiated. But Scotland has a claim to all government assets relating to Scotland.

The money spent wasn't loaned to Scotland. It was given to Scottish residents.

For all this, Scotland has to take on some of the debt (a bill if you wnat to call it that).

That is how it would work. The assets aren't owned by the UK.
