***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

XL motors are installed and it runs really well. On smooth ground it isn't as fast as the L motors, but on carpet etc it moves as a fairly decent speed.

Going to take it into the office tomorrow where there is loads of room to play around with it :D

For those of you that lived in London there was a full size bus stop made of lego on regent street today for TFL's year of the bus.
Harrods/lego also hosted a free build your own 51 brick tfl 'limited edition' bus stop to make and take home.
Not sure the 50 minute wait was worth it, but my son loves his buses so he was a happy bunny.
The LEGO Certified Professional onsite had some intresting things to say about the design and how tfl wanted looks over stability

Here is mine and my sons for your viewing pleasure.

Cool!! Would love to try that. Do you think I'll have enough parts in the 4x4 crawler set (to do a 2x L motor version only, of course)?

How come your XL version is slower - did you choose different gear ratio, or is it the motors themselves?

The parts required for the L vs XL are the same, apart from the motors obviously. The XLs are slower than the Ls, but have more torque.

From what I've read online (read this), a guy managed to do the same thing with using parts from the 4x4 crawler set so you should be good.

Thanks for the info. Oooh I saw some guy who managed to keep the original functions and the piston engine and not widen the front! Crazy.

The front of mine isn't widened. The key visual difference is that the hood is not flat down on the back... it is raised a little because the battery pack is holding it up a little.

I've seen the mod you are referring to and whilst it is good, I believe he has used one XL motor to power the rear wheels. I think he just attached another axle to the opposite end of the piston engine and then the motor to that.

Started to sort out all my sons Lego Star Wars....
Wow!! I thought my boys had a big Star Wars collection, but that really is something else! Great to see it all built at the same time too - is that a rare thing with kids?!

I have issues with my boys not keeping their models complete long enough to seem them all built together. After watching the Lego movie it dawned on me that I am pretty much 'The Man Upstairs' after threatening to glue them together and should really chill out and let them play with it as it should be! :)

It's taken some doing over the years to get it to this stage, think I've lost count the number of times over the years!!

I am 'The Man Upstairs'

The wife even buys me Lego now for birthdays etc....
