Is it any good?

14hrs to build a chair an adult can sit on and some food for a table display.

There was some good designs and the builders ranged from 9 yr old kids to adults all with varying styles and abilities.

I think they should have one true lego master builder in the show also, not competing but just to show you what can be achieved in the timescale to give a benchmark against the other teams.

One of my issues with it was that they gave no indication of how much time the teams had to plan and prepare for the build. For me the more interesting part would have been seeing the development process of the builds and all of the trial and error that would have gone into it, particularly the team who built the proper 4 legged chair. The teams basically arrived with fully planned builds with 14 hours to assemble it which seemed a bit pointless. As ever with this kind of TV they end up focussing on the 'characters' rather than what they're supposed to be doing.

as you say, its effectively GBBO but with lego. The same thing happens with GBBO. The bakers get briefed some time before the challenge to have time to practice the upcoming task. They can't expect the folk on the show to know the recipe for every type of bread, cake or biscuit and filling/topping in the world and just throw them in at the deep end with no time to prepare and practice before the actual task as they could throw literally any task at them.

Heads up, got an email at lunch that on 1st to 3rd of September there will be triple points on all Star Wars purchases from the lego store just in case this is of any use to anyone.

Stolen from NeoGAF, BB8 looks nice next to R2D2

The problem with star destroyers is they are quite repetitive to build with a lot of similar parts, they are ultimately a big grey triangle. It looks great once built though.

I get what you mean. Saturn V was quite repetitive. Looks amazing but 100s of hull pieces.

What I really want is the ucs imperial shuttle as the normal one was one of the most interesting I've built I think.
Ucs tie fighter was good build as it was so different

Honestly, if you can find a reason / motive to buy it, the Disney Castle is an absolutely amazing build. Very little repetition and the details and finished product are unrivalled.
