***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Don't even know where to begin

Thats pro level right there.

Half the fun is finding the pieces, otherwise its just building by numbers.

Where did u get all that lot from

Car boots have boxes or buckets of lego if you look around. Got some in the past to throw in spares box etc..

Thinking I might go Lego Store Milton Keynes soon, due a trip there to see what they have. Always RRP but I do like to look at what they have no display.

Never even thought of looking in charity shops for bits and pieces of Lego, I might give it a go!

ALso picked up the Old Fishing Store this week and I am about 1/3 of the way through building Ninjago City! I've still got to finish that and start both the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon and the Temple of Airjitzu before I get round to the Fishing Store. Also need to pick up the Palace Cinema now that it is retiring, its my least favorite modular and I've been holding off until the last moment to buy it.

Old fishing store is an amazing looking MOC that got picked up by Lego. I doubt it will be on sale for too long, Idea sets never are sadly.

Went out and picked up the Palace Cinema during lunch today. It's just too tempted when I'm 5 minutes walk away from the Lego Store in Glasgow!

Also bought a large tub of white 4x2's from the PAB wall to make my own Minifig display frame (Ikea Ribba frame).

Yeah, they have a Falcon in the Glasgow store. It's absolutely huge. A colleague of mine has already ordered the Lepin version, apparently for $180 USD... :(

It'll. Only hold it's value. I could never spend 650 on a set if I didn't think it would appreciate

It's such a dilemma for me... I love lego of course and have always enjoyed building the models... but aside from that I've always been obsessed with the Falcon since seeing the first Star Wars as a kid, I'd love to have the model on display (probably using the glass-topped coffee table method) and I really don't want to miss out on being able to have one (and I don't want a 2nd hand or Lepin version)...

buuuut I did get married recently and am still in the process of paying that off so the timing isn't great - I know a lot of people seem to be of the opinion that after the initial rush of fans and people trying to "invest" in what they've been led to believe will make them thousands the model will still be for sale for several years, but what if they're wrong?! :(

Have a mini eBay or Gumtree clearout and put the money from that towards a Falcon? I recently did this with my old golf and Warhammer stuff and made a fortune!

Its a lot cheaper, for sure, but I only use Lepin for retired sets that I would like to try and add to my collection, I mostly end up buying a lepin and ordering new stickers of ebay, spare parts, I've had to super glue parts due to poor fitment with lepin and replace missing parts, its a right hassle at times to build them, so only useful to fill in gaps for retired sets. Also, HMRC might charge a good old whack on import duties but it will still be cheaper them the official Lego version.

I guess its the risk you take with this one. The UCS tie fighter is still for sale, and was retired nearly a year ago now? I would suspect this set will be available for a good year or so before it comes hard to find. £650 is a lot of money, but like said, try selling off stuff you don't need any longer.

Yeah it isn't going to sell out in a week and then never be available. Probably be a good year or so before it goes

Mmm I'm hoping that'll be the case... although I don't expect it to fall in price much if at all, which sort of makes me think if I'm going to buy it in the end I might as well just get it... decisions, decisions :p

I've noticed if you aren't impatient the cheapest way to get most sets is off eBay brand new after a few months.
Ucs tie fighter I paid 130 brand new for off there. I guess people buy it and change their mind for whatever reason.

But with this set, you never know, might not go down at all, might be 400 off eBay in a few months.
A lot depends on if lego produce a handful or more than they can sell

I'm still tempted to go down to London and go to that event. Can't decide. It's a long drive for lego lol

I've found a few sets from ebay boxed , opened, started, built once that type of thing.. Usually reduces the cost, if you don't mind second hand. the newer kits sold quickly are usually complete, dust free etc....

I suppose, though snobby as it makes me I feel like with such a big and prestigious kit I'd want to build it from new with all the numbered bags still in-tact etc.

Will see how I feel about it tonight :p
